Thanks. Your suggestion is a perfectly reasonable one; so many of the EVGo chargers are in parking garages with marginal cell reception that I found a long time ago that it was better to use the NFC cards than to use the app. All of our three EVs have a EVGo card in the car. With ChargePoint and EA we can use Apple Wallet for NFC even without using the app, so no need to use the physical cards...
Hopefuly CCS public charging gets better over time and Tesla opens their network to us in areas where there are no CCS DCFC, like Delaware.

True story. I have never once had a problem charging at EA nor have I ever been to an EA station they wasn’t 100% operational.

?
I can honestly say the same is true for me too.

Disclaimer: my Taycan is still in a dream stage (be it a tracked dream) and I drive a Tesla. ;)

In my recent EA charging experience here in the mid-Atlantic region, the EA stations have been working (if the app said the they were available), but I've had spotty success with initiating charging via the MyPorsche app. I've not had any issues using the NFC 'card' in my phone to charge with my EA account.

Contrast that with local EVGo and SEMAConnect stations where I've had 100% failure since relocating to the DC area...
If you do with EA app you en up paying correct? Or is it possible on the app to configure our free charging thing? I had a terrible experience yesterday.
After “processing payment” it went straight to error asking to unplug.
PCNA Customer S told me to enable 2 checkmarks on the car so the connection is quicker, did not work.

EA told me to do the start charging from the my porsche app, did not work either.

it was like EA never “confirmed” my car can charge for free.

When I use the EA 'card' it's because I can't get payment to work with the MyPorsche app (an all-too-common occurrence). I'd rather pay for charging than have a 'free' empty battery...

I've recently come around the realization that you're not paying for "kWh" - you're paying for "time" - this is especially "true" when you're away from home and road tripping…

you can charge an EV "for" free at most any electrical outlet - but it could take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 days (literally)

at functional DCFast charger (150 kW or more) the Taycan's battery isn't big enough to be charging for more than 45 min to about 95%…worse case - 98-100% can take any amount of time as things get really really slow and highly variable in my experience with my Taycan.

but the main point is you can't honestly be charging for more than 45 min to high 90%'s - so the time savings is signficant vs. slower L2 charging (those last few %'s are about 800 wh each - so honestly the range difference is inconsequential once charging has really slowed down…

it's the time (savings) you're paying for - not the electricity.

this perspective has changed my value perception - YMMV

Needed a quick top up this morning in Palo Alto. Hit the EA changers at Stanford, 4 of 6 working, plug and charge worked perfectly, added 50 miles in about 10 minutes. Only the third time I’ve tried EA, but I’m three for three.

Okay, EVgo has a few dead chargers in my area as well. Hopefully, you can find some that work.
I had a terrible time trying to use the evgo chargers around both tampa and st. pete. it would fault almost immediately at 3 different locations

You just need an adaptor to charge a Taycan at a Tesla station, right?

slow charging yes - fast charging no.
Good short answer. Technically the answer is yes, you'd need an adapter for either. The long answer is that aftermarket AC (slow) charging adapters are available and work with Tesla AC EVSE's as long as the EVSE is not provisioned to exclusively charge Teslas. DC (fast) charging adapter has not been released by anyone, at least not yet. Tesla might release one if the government doesn't buy their argument that releasing physical specs of Tesla connectors qualifies as Tesla supercharger network usable by non-Tesla vehicles as far as receiving government grants is concerned.

All of the EVGo chargers in Tampa and Brandon area are broken. I’ve reported every single one but they’ve done nothing to fix them. Now the entire EA charging station near Tampa is closed as they install new equipment. Does anyone in Tampa know when they’re opening again? We have no home charger and were using EA and EVGo for charging, but not anymore!

I stopped by the EA site in Tampa recently, the crew thought another 2 weeks. Currently have an email into EVgo about the three Dunkin’ Dougnuts chargers that have been out of service for ever. I have an eTron as well and charge at home most of the time. Hoping CCS public charging gets better soon. We travel to Rehoboth De where there are no CCS fast chargers At all! I would not blame anyone who relies on public fast charging to go back to gas.

From what I have seen, the equipment upgrade at EA sites usually takes about 3 weeks.
When it is back in service, they normally remove the "under repair" notice on Plugshare, indicate the site has re-opened on EA twitter account, and, on the EA app, the greyed out site symbol changes back to normal blue-green color. Best would be to watch for posts about the site on plugshare.
