Not strictly true that a new car is unblemished mate..

The detailer i used in Twickenham told me to bring the car to him dirty from the boat and not let the dealer wash it. The dirtier the better he said as he said he would have to do a full wash on it and then a grade 1 polish.

It’s a myth that a brand new car is unblemished as it‘s not (plenty of stuff on the net about it esp You Tube - it’s shocking how poor Tesla paint it!).

After the polish it’s then another full detailed clean and then the ceramic or PPF.

I took my car over a few days after collecting, dropped off and got the loan car from him and went back next day for mine all done With 5 year protection (ceramic).

I agree it’s less convenient but cost me £400 this way rather than the £800+ quoted..

What was the name of the firm? I’m Also based in West London so looking for local recommendations for a ceramic coating when my car finally arrives.

I paid Sheffield 500quid do mine hasn’t lasted 6 months , and that was there ceramic , salesman pushed it emphatically, but didn’t get his finance or any other package , but my thoughts are get the defaulters to do it and not some monkey in porsche on min wage

I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave you the swissvax for £500 as that is their standard and what they sell it for. I would find out who did it as 6 months is poor.

My contact at Porsche Edinburgh has emailed yesterday to say that my car is now on the boat to Grimsby.
From the experience of the thread - and factoring in Christmas and New Year as well as the dealers likely desire to include the car in this quarter’s sales figures, when should I realistically expect to be able to collect?

I believe my car is also on the same boat which docked late last night. In terms of collection, it’s proving hard to know how long cars spend at the port by the looks of it. Customs, transporter availability etc all add time but, hopefully yours will get to you before the end of the month.

I think I might be one of the very few (only one??) who has actually asked to delay delivery lol. Work commitments take me away early next week until mid-February so I have a wee bit longer to wait unfortunately.

Anyway, good luck and I hope it all works out for you. ?

Who is your Twickenham detailer? Recommended? I’m local and looking.
(I’ve previously used Bellissimoto in Bermondsey, who were great and would not hesitate to use again, but a local guy would be good).

Morning, received a call at the beginning of December - had to lock before the 20th Dec for 20th Feb Build date.

That is good to know. Roughly four months means I still have a minimum of four months to wait, but that works with my current lease car. Fingers crossed for 'the' call sometime soon... I believe the interest rate on Porsche lease deals has gone up quite a lot, though it may settle a bit next year.

They weren't forthcoming on the cancellations question. I was surprised to get the call. Like you, I was expecting to hear in January.
Given the latest round of income tax increases in Scotland it makes me question why I live here!

I'm shelving my next working abroad trip in Q1 to actively research moving everything abroad - possibly UAE.

It does mean Porsche are getting the call from me to cancel if it happens.

Sad, but not when I think about how much corp and income tax I will be saving by no longer being beholden to HMRC...
