Dear friends,

I can understand how we can get really confused at this stage. I've changed my mind quite a few times and after researching I have come to these options.

The below three option fit in my budget. The car will be leased and will be a company car. So do not care of resale value. I will have the car for 3 years though. This will be my daily commute car and only car. I do around 80 miles a day, mainly motorway and then 10 miles in London UK. I will not be doing any track days etc. On the weekends its me and my partner cruising around. Rarely any back seat passengers.
My first choice was always option 1 which has the best leather with the massage seats and seat ventilation for the summer but the GTS looks affordable now but i'm not sure how comfortable will it be on daily basis with my drive.

Thoughts?

Not sure that any of the models is uncomfortable but I did a 4S CT
with all of the performance options and 21” wheels. I am surprised that it is even more comfortable than the panamera I had which also had 21’s, air ride and no performance goodies.

In general for Porsche, the S models are the best compromise for the street/daily duties. With GTS, you give up a little ride compliance, add a little more noise, but gain a little more road feel…that can be interesting in very spirited road driving or on a track.

I have a 4S with lots of performance goodies as well as massage/ventilated seats. The way I set mine up gives me the full range from luxury to performance. You’ll have to decide how much full time performance you want to and what you are willing to trade for it. I am in chill mode 80% of the time and middle-aged race car driver (in my head) for 20% and I spec’d accordingly.

Why do you not care about resale value? It will be an important determinant of leasing cost.

Have you considered selecting the base-price wheels, then installing your own wheels that you can keep when you return the Taycan at the end of the lease?

Great response, thank you. I prefer more luxury I guess i’ll be 80% more in chill mode too

It depends on preference, of course, and I didn’t have a budget but when I did the comparison I bought a Cross Turismo 4S rather than the Sport Turismo GTS.
There were several reasons.

Firstly, comfort is important for me so the sportier suspension setting in Normal on the GTS wasn’t attractive, the CT has 20mm more bump travel in normal so will absorb bumps better than the saloons and STs anyway, it still has Sport and Sport + settings, plus individual, so can be as sporty as you like when not in normal mode.

Second, comfort is important to me in the seating too and the beautiful GTS leather and racetex interior is only available on the 18-way sports seats. I definitely find the 14-way comfort seats both more comfortable and supportive enough for spirited driving so they were a must for me, because vented and massage seats were too.

There were minor things too, I prefer the look of the compass to the stopwatch available as an option in the CT version of the Sport Chrono package but not the others.

Of all the 21” wheels I by far prefer the Cross Turismo ones.

The exterior cosmetics were a mixed bag, I actively dislike the bigger black blobs under the headlights in the Sports design package so I certainly wouldn’t pay a penny extra for it myself.

But these last 2 are more personal cosmetic taste than functional.

It is a mystery to me, as an engineer who has used it as a structural material, that carbon fibre has become popular as a cosmetic embellishment, gobsmacked I am, by the time it has enough excess resin to make it look shiny it isn’t even that light. It would be straightforward to make something looking the same for a fraction of the price without wasting good material. Ah well.

To be honest I would skip several of the options added as you will not derive any real benefit - VLC Pano Roof (you won’t see the electronic shade 99.99% of the time, Ventilated Seats (they don’t cool and only blow the ambient air), Olea - pointless, Passenger Display - little value, Sport Design kit - I would de-spec if from my GTS if I could as it doesn’t enhance the appearance.

For your use case the RWD would be the sensible choice spiced up with a few options as you will never experience the additional power on offer from the other choices listed.

Personally, GTS is a no brainier but go for extended leather rather than standard interior or GTS interior, predicated on the budget alone.

Issues you will have will be a) Bose, air suspension supply issue on RWD, 4, 4S which currently means you won’t be able to spec - GTS and above you will, lead time for GTS is 12 months+

GTS all day long?

Have you not called into your nearest dealer ?

GTS interior pack ? Far better than leather option imo ……unless you want some funky colour combo? and you get interior carbon pack included

Privacy Glass
Windscreen with Grey Top-Tint
Automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors
SportDesign Package Carbon
Carbon Mirrors
22kw charger
Passenger display seems to be a Marmite option, I spec‘d it because it looks pretty shit with a bit of plastic there…. i personally like it, demo car had it and I liked it….

horses for courses and each to their own

GTS. No brainer choice. I struggled with this dilemma as well, only to realize later how it’s really an easy choice to make especially if you’ve already selected things like sport design, sport chrono, black trim, etc, on the 4S, but standard on GTS.

I was also concerned by ride comfort between the GTS and 4S as well, especially for daily driving duties. Having experienced the ride difference between a 992 Carrera S and 992 GTS I’ve driven back to back, where the Carrera S was noticeably more comfortable and compliant, I made the assumption that there would be a similar difference between the Taycan 4S and GTS. After some test drives, my assumptions were wrong. Whether the suspension was set to the sportiest setting or normal, the two variants rode the same. Both the Taycan 4S and GTS have supremely comfortable ride quality and my butt could not tell the difference between the two. What might actually make more of a difference in ride quality is the type of seat you choose and 20” vs 21” wheel options,. If you want comfort, get the comfort seats with massage and ventilation. If you want more bolstering and slightly less padding, go for the 18-way which is standard on the GTS. I personally went for the most comfortable GTS spec - 20” wheels with 14-way massage seats and could not be happier :)

OK @W1NGE , I see where you coming from. In my case I have to spend £123k, so lowering the model or cutting the options is not an option. If you had to spend the £123k what will be your choice and what options will you go for?
