that is what I did and it looked amazing! That was unless we had the start of uk summer and the trim started to bend outwards from the corners. The detailed tried reattaching but they just came undone again.

currently have not trim on my car as it was all removed so it kind of looks like at ST but with a hole in each side (incidentally I don’t like it looking like a ST and prefer the more aggressive look of painted trim). The company that I had do it is going to reattach new painted trim rather than try and repair the trim. They feel it will be a better job and that they have also learned for this car it’s not possible
Useful feedback, I think it would be worth ordering the oem sticky tape if reattaching old trims. But probably safer to go with new smooth arches

they did that and it failed. Then they used something stronger and it held for two months then failed.

when we last discussed the two option I had were plastic weld it or new trim that is sand and painted without having never gone onto a car

Any those be the front ones without parking senor? Or maybe they are different with of road package?

if you have the parking sensor like me I think it should be ok.
I don't have the sensor in the front wheel arches unfortunately. @murphy12345 Any idea what the 2 extra pieces you got were for? Whether a car had front parking sensors or not, wouldn't the total part count be the same (12 total)? So not sure why @murphy12345 list had 14 pieces.

@darth_maul_80 Do you have a list of the part numbers the shop is ordering to replace the wheel arches? Are there 12 pieces total? Could you take a pic of the hole in each side that you referred to above? Wonder if there is a way to patch or plug it up. How do the bottom corners of the wheel openings look where the missing arches would mate up against the bottom sill? Any pics to share?

Took some quick pictures this morning. If you need better ones let me know and I’ll try. Won’t get my trim back till Monday 18 July anyway

To clarify, you had the existing trims painted and they started to curl in the hot weather?
What’s to stop new ones doing the exact same thing? @ciaranob doesnt have this issue and I understand he lives in a hot climate. Genuinely interested as i want to paint my arches too.

In my case have had absolutely zero issues with my sanded, primed and painted original fender flares and we are over a month now with temps (and add humidity) in the 100-125F range (37-46C)!

What do you think caused the problem? The painting in self or putting them back on? Or did they paint the back too and did this cause fixation problems? Inferior tape / glue? I don’t see why the painting it self should be a problem. They were black so tha dark color shouldn’t make them warmer than the original ones.

Probably they don’t, or it wouldn’t have happened. Bad adhesive tape or having painted the back would be my guess. Maybe @ciaranob could comment what the back of the original ones looked like? Unpainted and smooth plastic?

Anyway I hope they can fix this for you.

I do remember wanting to debadged a car in the past. Just waited for a hot day and could almost pull it off like that. I think this job needs a better adhesive tape.

I know they used the same tape as Porsche oem tape then tried a stronger 3M tape but the edges still failed

will find out when I get the new ones

Could you share pictures how they failed. Just went to see my car and they look to be attached firmly. The edges on one of the 2 pieces in the back show some minor motion. I presume in your case it was much worse than that.
Good luck, I hope it gets solved. Good they are taking responsibility and looking for a solution.

Fairly certain the backs of the fender flares are not painted. My guess is either inferior or defective tape (despite what dealership states) - other possibility potentially installer error in application if for example handled/fingerprinted the tape too much prior to attaching to the plastic pieces (?) - and/or if the surfaces to which the tape was being applied were not meticulously cleaned/alcohol rubbed etc to remove any traces of (finger) grease/polish or other such material before bonding both pieces.

All total speculation on my part of course! Finally I did not see mine been attached and TBH my installers may have used additional tricks to ensure a tight bond. This failure example however seems fairly unique ie. have not heard of another example and know of (I think) ca. 8 others with painted fenders now that have not reported any issues as yet.

darth_maul_80 - hope and strongly suspect they will sort this out for you - what a pain to have to deal with it but best of luck.

Hi guys! I would also like to paint my wheel arches on my CT4S in concession before my delivery but the seller tells me that I have to order those for the turbo.. Porsche sales policy or real technical reasons?

You need the gloss black ones from the turbo S. Those are easier to paint, the others have a structure they need to sand and probably add a base layer. Where did you order? Mine was done in Latem.
