Hi All,

Long-time lurker/first-time poster here. Finally received an allocation for a 4S (earlier than expected!), and my build freezes in early March. Would love any and all feedback.

Link to a build recreating what I spec'd in person with sales advisor: https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PPU6DG77

Main things added to base build:

Exterior Color: Jet Black Metallic
Rear 2+1 Seats
Premium Package
Remote ParkAssist incl. Lane Change Assist LCA)
Performance Battery Plus (93.4 kWh)
Porsche Electric Sport Sound

Any and all feedback is welcome, and a couple of questions:

1. I'm not wed to anything in this build except the Rear 2 + 1 Seats (three kids, so need that flexibility) and maybe the Performance Battery Plus.
2. From browsing the forum, it seems like the most common feedback is to add leather seats and rear-axle steering. Does it make sense to replace remote park assist with rear-axle steering?
3. Is PEC delivery worth it? I live in Atlanta and am about 30 minutes away.

If you live in atlanta might as well do PECATL. Although from what i'm told that can delay you getting your car for a few weeks to maybe months due to the backlog.

Get summer tires, you don't need all seasons in the south.
Get Active Cruise Control, no reason a $120k+ car shouldn't have a feature a $30k kia has. Your foot in traffic jams will thank you.
Everyone in this forum will tell you Rear Axle Steering is needed, but the reality is that its a "nice to have" not a "need to have." Its more useful in europe when the roads are smaller and parking spots are tighter.

If you're itching for budget room, drop the electric sport sound.

Congrats on the allocation!
I would consider removing the remote park assist, as it is really not that great, lane change assist is already included in the premium package I believe, otherwise cheaper as a stand alone option.

Adaptive cruise is a great option to consider instead of the parking assist.

full leather interior really increases the luxury feel and is more commensurate to what a 100k vehicle should have, but this is very subjective depending on your priorities and sensibilities.

rear wheel steering is great, but if you already drive a big car without it and have not had issues, you won’t be missing out much. Depends on how much wiggle room you have in your budget.

keep the performance battery, there are really no cons to it and adds some peace of mind. If you do a short commute everyday and charge at home and don’t intend to road trip the car, then you could consider saving the money.

I personally would go with some 20” wheels at least for aesthetics, but again that’s personal.

black cars are a bear to keep looking clean, again personal, but I feel black hides the lines on Taycans.
I’m sure you will get much more feedback from others. Enjoy the process and prepare to spend more money, lol!

it's very subjective what is necessary or not.. for me the p+ battery is mandatory because in winter you have to take into account a big loss of autonomy and I do 100km/day but where you live? Same for the heat pump.

5 places for me is mandatory for flexibility even if it's not a real 5th place.

full leather and carbon pack, Bose system, chrono sport etc... there is absolutely nothing necessary because the car is well built from the start, everything depends on your expectations of finishes.

Personally I don't like plastic everywhere so for me full leather was necessary.

The torque system+ because it is often rainy and humid at my place and it counters the weight of the car in these conditions.

If I had to choose the rear wheel steering would come at the bottom of the list (the 360 camera would come before by example)

Have fun if you seen everyone listen:piggybank:

My suggestions:
Upgrade to some better wheels
Door trim in black instead of silver
You may want to keep the all season tires, as I hear Atlanta does have its cold periods under 40 degrees
And if you’re budget conscious, look at all the possible options under $1000 and pick 1-5 to add onto what you have. The RAS does seem like a good option, although I neglected to add it to mine. ??‍♂

Skip Electric Sport Sound - it's too awful for words and you will get bored of it (honest).
360 panoramic cameras are a must IMHO
RAS highly desirable.

Add on-board 150kw/400v DC charger. Read many forum posts for reason why.
Whether you do remote park or not, be sure to keep lane change assist/blind spot monitor.
Yes, keep all season tires option.
Strongly recommend including adaptive cruise control. In addition to its base functionality, it adds hardware to the car needed for potential additional functions on demand.
Note that standard seat belt color is black. Is that what you want?
Consider Porsche crest on front headrests.
Consider center wheel caps with colored Porsche crest.

Remember, asking for build feedback on this forum usually costs you money. ;)

Thanks all. This is helpful information.

1. My build tentatively has the premium package, which 360 degree cameras, no?
2. I've never used any kind of cruise control - are others suggesting adding ACC because it opens up the option to add InnoDrive later? Replacing ParkAssist with ACC makes sense to me, if that's the case.
3. Re: wheel size, I spec'd the wheel size to be smaller because I'd read that makes a meaningful difference in range. The study was based on Teslas, though I don't see why that would be unique to Tesla. Is this wrong?

It's not often that an opinion is a fact but the base wheels are bad... not my opinion... independently verified by anyone with functioning eyes. ? The rest is relatively subjective. I was in the same budget range and decided to go with a RWD and add a bunch of options ("over -specced some might say... and did) but the 4S acceleration will become a bit of a party trick, IMO. Cool? Absolutely. And if I didn't have a budget, I'd absolutely do it but I wanted a car that felt and looked like $120k car and performance (which doesn't suck in a RWD) was secondary. That's just me, though.

I have the premium package and it came with the 360 degree camera. If you don't get Park Assist, you don't get the rear cross traffic alerts (beeping sounds when you are backing out of a parking spot and can't see what is on either side). It is fairly common on most cars and you might miss it if you are used to it. I would have added Park Assist had I known about this omission.

Hrm....

ACC vs RAS? What's the percentage of people who use regular cruise control, let alone ACC daily? RAS---although Porsche's RAS development wasn't mainly developed for turning in tight spaces, it's something that's noticeable and used daily.

Congrats on the allocation, that is a big deal and on the 4S in particular. No allocations where I am.

I agree with a lot of good feedback already and having driven RWD and 4S for a few days each, seeing just about every option in person over the years, but still waiting on mine, this is my feedback.

- Wheels: Seems like range is more important than looks, then go with the most aerodynamic design. I do not know which one that would be but assume it would have to be smaller size and with lots of cover of the calipers.

- Tires: You need to decide what is more important to you. The consensus on the forum seems to be that Summer's marginal increase in grip and low tread life is not as great of a value vs. All-Seasons that can be driven in surface temps (not just night temp that drops below that) of 45F or below and have longer tread life.

- Remote Park Assist: I consider this limited use and way down the line after RWS and ACC. My understanding is that it is very slow.

- Rear Wheel Steer: I consider this a must on a car as wide as Taycan. I have a standard 2 car garage built in 1999 and I have _NO_ issue parking a Macan and an Acura TSX with both kind of wide, but when I tried to park the Taycan without RWS, it was way too wide to park into a sideways garage. I have it on the Cayenne and use it every day. Keep in mind that this feature does 2 things: Low speed maneuvering and High speed smoother lane changing.

- ACC: This is only if you plan to use it or need features that it enables via FoD purchases since it comes with sensors you cannot add after the fact.

- Surround View: Yes, Preimium Package includes that which is 360 camera views.

- Leather Interior: I saw both and Standard interior without a Leather package is very vinyl with many regretting not upgrading. However, if you are concerned with wear and tear by the children then Standard is the way to go.

- Cosmetics: Window surround trim (Silver is standard on 4S and Black is a cost), Seat Belts are Black so be sure to pay for Beige upgrade if you think it looks better and worth the cost to you. I do not see if there is anything else that may impact you since you are on a budget such as making Mirror base Gloss Black.

- PEC Delivery: I have not done that, but would think it would be totally worth it if you are so close to it, however, that will come at a cost of delay by a few weeks as others said.

- 150kW/400v: I added this to my build as it seems it might happen that Tesla will open up at least some of their chargers (by the end of 2024), so this would be a well worth spend to have available as a backup charging option.

To be clear iits a 400v DC to 800v DC voltage booster and NOT a charger. Worth every penny.
