Arrrgh! I was given an allocation for delivery June 23. Dealer just called to say that due to heater issues the allocation is cancelled and now delivery likely "sometime" in 2024.

Give me strength

Consider 2nf hand interim.

Chances are the situation will improve and builds will come forward again.

This is a shocking message from Porsche, I really feel for you. It’s crazy that one component should result in them giving you a message that your already allocated car will be at least six months delayed. I hope this rectifies itself as they will really damage their reputation continuing in this way.

Yes agreed. And due to UK capital tax allowance rules, it has to be a new car (unregistered) so no option to buy 2nd hand or demonstration car.

On a separate note it’s interesting to see wait times are still quite substantial (mainly driven by supply issues with parts and heater issues etc).
Does suggest some of the stock sitting at dealers won’t hang around for long, if people want to get in a car quicker.
I do note that you can buy brand new stock cars - so company car buyers can still take advantage of the tax breaks.

Looks like the heater issue is this year’s version of 2022’s 12v battery nightmare.

Porsche always seems to find a silver lining with these dark clouds so, I expect their second hand sales will be better than originally projected…….

I wonder if they’re already prepping for the arrival of the new MY/facelift model and looking to ensure there’s no delay?

The heater issue is a hit or a miss in newly delivered (not yet handed over to the customer) MY23 Taycans. My dealer has had several delivered without issue this month apparently and so I was unlucky.

It is entirely possible (as in my case) the heater failure was only detected during PDI and not as part of the factory checks - coincidence / unlucky / other?? The risk you carry therefore is that if there is a fault it won't be detected until PDI.

Porsche will put a stop sale in place if there is a failure - note only half of mine wasn't working (odd I know) rather than the full system (others have had this) - rather than spoil the handover. This doesn't (unfortunately) preclude a failure thereafter if Porsche are producing and shipping with components of questionable quality thereby carrying some reputational risk.

Still, I now get a 23 Reg (1/3/23) rather than a 22 Reg and pick up the car this afternoon....inshallah!

As for explaining delays it could be attributable to the heater but as this has been an issue since last year it seems odd there are still building cars in 2023 and shipping with pending failures OR it could be another gremlin / supply chain / re-tooling exercise.

More than 6 months ? That seems a lot to... My CT4S came out of the factory and is waiting for a retrofit. My salesperson told me about 3 weeks late and that's what I read on the forum from several people who have this heater problem.

Is it a new update because they can't find the problem or just a very large margin of safety delay that your seller takes??

I was 2 fingers away from taking delivery when this problem arose! I can't wait any longer without a specific date!!

Dealer said to me that they were having to give all prior allocations to customers ahead of me who were getting delayed by the heater issue and hadn't got the car yet. Said that the factory had stopped issuing new allocations.

I am going to try phoning around and see if other dealers are saying same or not....
