Porsche expects people to drive their cars but provides systems for additional support. On the hand, other Tesla wants the car to do the driving for you and may occasionally ask for some help.

I drive a Porsche for a reason :like:
Rear visibility out of the Taycan is not great, this additional support as you call it, is actually required to drive it backwards precisely (within a couple of inches, or 5cm).

I still don’t see the issue. While the picture doesn’t show the pole, the sensor is telling you something is there. Is that not enough or would you keep driving even though a proximity sensor said to stop?
It’s cosmetics, it doesn’t render a full 3D view (which is to be expected) in interpolates the blind spots. I don’t have a problem with that, but one should be aware (this is my 3rd 360 camera on a car, so I’m used to it now)

My Merc W213 rear cam used to have a red line drawn in the main view, which was about 50cm from the bumper. I could trust that line and align to it 100% always being save. I miss that on the Taycan, especially with the fish-eye view things approach faster than the screen makes you think.

Oooh! There it is. I checked manual but couldn't understand where it was.
I'll look for that icon tomorrow, I don't actually remember seeing that though...

Thank you.
This is part of the Remote Park Assist / 3D option and not 360 Pano / surround.

There is another setting under Assistance for collision warning which can be tweaked to stop aggressive brake intervention - also useful to control rollback etc.

While I am not questioning this, I am curious how you figured out Maneuvering Assist is part of Remote Park Assist (vs. say just Park Assist)? I was looking through the configurator, didn't see this mentioned. I don't remember seeing it in the old configurator either.

Click the ℹ icon against the option and the full details of what you purchased are there.

You are right. I somehow missed that in the old configurator, I knew about the other options, but missed the Maneuvering Assist. Pasting the description below for reference.

I guess this isn't an OTA option....

Probably not listed, but won't require any extra HW (so it _could_ be OTA/FOD). I don't have this option in my camera view, but as W1nge mentioned above, the vehicle assistance systems page (the .. menu under Assistance) does list Maneuvering settings (Regular etc.)

Um, try it? ?

In this context it relates to forward and aft movement rather than objects.

I think more hardware is needed - additional sensors - and not wholly software based.

May be, though I'm fairly certain I've experienced this unexpected braking once or thrice. The cameras and sensors are there, auto-braking is there (kicks in on hill holding) - not sure what else could be missing (radar?).

I may be wrong, as I'm not inclined to test this scenario (hmm, I do have a stack of styrofoam blocks laying about.. ?), and it's possible that in the few occasions where I've observed this there was a slight incline (and so I've experienced hill holding, and not auto braking).

I don't appear to have Maneuvering Settings either...

Do you have it enabled under Assistance, but the button to disable it on demand is not there on the camera screen?
