my neighbor just bought a 2020 Turbo 14K miles 3 weeks ago...went to drive it last week only to find out that it was a Brick!
Long story short Porsche Dealer said they have to replace the entire Battery Pack but it will take 4 to 5 months. They also mentioned that this is not uncommon on 2020's. I have a 2020 Turbo with 30K miles...Now I'm worried :)

Is this a common issue? Do 2021,22, 23 have this issue?

or search "red electrical error" (your friend would have seen this in the right tube if his 12v still had juice to turn the car on.

Mine was a bad HV cell that needed to be replaced. The issue is part supply from Stuttgart and they have to send the "flying doctor" to monitor the repair. Mine was 80 days from start to end. I had a Cayenne loaner for all but 1 week of that time.

let this be the canary in the coal mine; don't forget to buy the Porsche extended warranty when the original warranty runs out. I think these entire battery replacement packs cost $30-40k to replace – although perhaps the 8 year warranty would apply in this case?

I wouldn't dare own a Taycan without the warranty. My car is 1.5 years old, and it's had 5 warranty visits; each topping $2k if you consider parts, labour and courtesy car. Makes me seriously reconsider holding onto this car long term.

Not good.

I have model year 22 and my Taycan was taken back to Porche this week as my dash said "electrical fault"

Had a call today to say main battery needed replacing.....I assumed 12V as car is only 5 months old with about 3.5k on clock.

Girl on the other end of phone at Porsche Nottingham was very vague, I asked sales guy to let me know full extend but await additional information.

Can only agree with you that the extended warranty is a must on such a new car venture for a traditional manufacturer!

But the battery warranty should cover this anyhow.

Well, buying a used EV is always a bad idea.

The question is what car to fall back to after. The most logical to me is a Lexus but also adventurous on the Polestar. Will see, my CT hopefully will be built with perfect parts, etc. On the other hand, BMW EVs are pretty solid. I am on a MINI SE, no issue at all.

I hope that i don't have to worry about buying extra warranties till later, i have to worry about the tire and rim one first. Then, need to buy the freaking winter tire package. I want to get the nice one. Cost almost a used car.

Yeah i might go 911 too. But depends on my financial situation then. I have left the $100 a week fuel cost days for more than 5 years now. Driving the S2000 back then was expensive on gas, switched to Prius and Mini SE. These days, it probably would cost $150-200 a week on fuel. So might not be able to stomach hundreds bucks on fuel a week when the time comes. The 911 won't be a weekend car. I hope that Lexus hasn't given up on Hybrid yet when i trade in my CT. I can't see the CT lasting like my Uncle's Mercedes, I heard that he never gave that one up.

It may be haram to say it but I've thought about a Supra 6MT as well. people heap praise on those about as consistently as a 911. maybe a cayman would be a better compromise. idk, I need to drive them all.
