UK order status and delays?

Congrats to all of you collecting your cars this week... Making me excited, they look great.

Unfortunately, I doubt I will be collecting mine this week as we have been waiting over a week for Germany to give it the all-clear. SA said yesterday afternoon Germany only came back with a response on half the cars they had tested and sent over data on.

A question, has anyone's car failed the 50-day test?

An update as some of you are in a similar position. I spoke to the SA today, >63 days since the car was completed and it is still on hold as they cannot pass the test. For now, they are testing daily until they get the result they want. I have asked how long they will just go on testing daily, before the car is returned to the factory - let's see what they say.

Right-o. Ordered 4S in October last year with Chester. I’m still waiting for that one. Ordered a GTS saloon in December of last year. I’m still waiting for that one. I swapped my 4S to a GTS ST in March of this year. I should take delivery in September (helped massively by the fact that Ceramic Brakes are currently not available). The GTS saloon order is going to get cancelled.

Have they told you what happens if it keeps failing and at what point do they decide to return it to the factory?

Do they expect it to pass eventually after testing x more times? Doesn’t really make sense - also appreciate they have probably told you very little about this.

Great handover from Bruce at Mid-Sussex Porsche -

Your car looks superb. My Mamba GTS ST is at the dealer now and will be handed over in just over a week.

Bruce is a great salesman. I met him 13 years ago when buying a used Boxster S. The most thorough handover I've ever had, despite the fact the fact it was quite a low value car for Porsche. He did it in such a way that you didn't feel any less important than someone picking up a 911 Turbo S.

I am counting down the (undefined number of) days until Bruce is doing my handover too! He has been great during the 14 months I've been waiting.

I asked that very question and as expected the answer was avoided, they just reassured me that they were on the case.

Trying to decide when to just call it quits and cancel the order.

Yes, I thought they might avoid answering that question. I’m starting to consider cancelling too.

Thanks for the feedback. I am in a similar position to you it seems at >60 days. All I can do is wait...

Im in the same "team" too. Its like that never ending piece of string. Does undermine your confidence in the car. If something fails 9/10 times it suggests it will again.

Waiting in Emden since then. Hoping that I receive some good news soon.

I see a few of us in the same situation. SA can not even give me a date when it is likely to be on a boat. Have a few questions please....

Do the cars not get damaged just sitting for weeks/months out under the weather in Emden? Specifically the tyres while sat still? Is there any quality checks by Porsche before they get on the boat?

I am getting PPF & ceramic coating done by a local company (Autowaxworks) in Silverstone. As they are not the usual company who Silverstone Porsche normally use - they are suggesting that they will have to do the handover of the car first before Autowaxworks can collect the car from them. Now I am not sure what the process is for the dealer when the prep a car for delivery/handover. I just don't want any swirl marks on the black paintwork.

Shall I ask the dealer not to wash/prep the car or not. It will mean I get the handover of a dusty car which was sat in Emden for 2 months or more?

I'm doing similar, just without the PPF and my detail wants to have the car with as little prep from the dealer as possible. When I got my BMW, we even left all the shipping plastic/paper coatings on the paintwork. Porsche may be hesitant to do that as it doesn't quite fit their glossy handover image, but it is your choice. Check with what Autowaxworks would prefer and push for that with Porsche

I can’t help unfortunately but in the same position as you in regards car reported as built and sat at Emden for almost two months with no concrete info on timescales.

Ordered - Taycan GTS in all Black ( I don't do colour on cars )

I have just had confirmation that my Taycan GTS is in for a September build and the dealer has told me to expect delivery in Oct. Reading the comments above is this realistic? It was ordered via Porsche Mid Sussex and I started out with a 4S performance but took advantage of a slot that came up on a GTS. My order has been in since May 2022 so really hoping the car will come in Oct.

I think that is a difficult question, mine was a March 2023 build (originally forecast Sept 2022), completed April 2023 and I still do not have it due to the hold. Mine has not passed the test (yet). That said my SA told me last night the cars manufactured after mine have not been subject to the hold and have been delivered already.

My understanding is that all cars go through Emden. My car was at Emden for less than 2 days before being loaded, others have had their cars stuck there for >10 weeks.

I guess the point is you will need a crystal ball.

I managed to avoid the stop sale, so I ordered May 22, built May 23, delivered start of this month. It's a 4S though not a GTS

Collected 29June, approx 7/8 days after 50 days completed, as everything pass through perfectly.

4/5 days of driving ... You forget all the wait and drama, and happy days ?well worth it folks! Nice little gift package on collection from Porsche too, nice little touch…
