I’m interested but the question will be: any scratches in the leather due to aluminum?

We could always add some velour tape on the inside to cover up any sharp edges and protect the leather.

I went with porsche logo on side and a cylinder on top to mount magnet to.

This design looks great, much cleaner than the ProClip mount. Can you share how you intend to attach the magnet to this mount? Thanks.

I will find a round magnet and figure out a way to attach it to the clip.

Right now my phone sits on the seat next to me or in between my legs. Sorry for being impatient

I am at the mercy of Shapeways and there review of the design, resolution of
any issues, redesign if necessary, then 3d printing. I have never worked with this company
nor have I ever had a part 3d printed. This is all new to me. It could easily take 2-4 weeks
to work thru issues. Your guess is as good as mine.

Do you have the STL file? If you can share that, I don't mind printing it here and being the guinea pig for it. My local printer uses SLA printing and they showed me some examples and they looked good.

It'll take like 3-4 days to get it and I can show you what it looks like.

I have a couple of 3D printers (and access to a 3 axis mill at work) and would be happy to try one if there's an STL file.

If not, I could have one of my designers make up a new design file. But would obv be easier if someone already has one.

From my perspective, it would be great to attach a ball joint to this mount and the magnet to the ball joint. That will provide some height and the ability to swivel the phone to one’s preferred angle.

Hope your design works. Tried the ProClip. It's a tight fit and secure but it scratched my leather a bit. Returning it and waiting to try this design.

Agree the prices of shapeways are crazy…. and would not recommend a low print quality as this could damage the leather trim. You need a smooth surface without rough edges.

Has anyone tried mounting this on the passenger side of the center console? I'm assuming it should fit.

I rarely visit this forum. No idea the mount was so popular.

It has been on my car for months now and works perfectly with this MagSafe charger (which is one of the few that has enough magnetic force to hold the phone while driving) :
