I don't think that's true in the US (it can be in EU where they offer privacy glass on the back), unless something changed recently. I measured my MY23 thermally and noise insulated glass and all side windows were 79% (so blocking 21% of light).

I measured Visual Light Transmissibility (VLT), as well as IR and UV resistivity if you care, on thermally and noise factory glass.

VLTUVRIRR
OEM T&N insulated glass79.0%100%78.8%
T&N insulated + 35% Stek Smart Ceramin tint30.5%100%93.3%
T&N insulated + 15% Stek Smart Ceramin tint13.0%100%92.9%

More details, such as how it was measured, in the original thread:

Thanks for the info. I remember your original post from that other thread now.

Would you happen to know whether UVR or IRR or both cause sun tanning? I assume it's not UVR since if it's 100% as your device claimed, then that would mean you would not get tan at all , although I feel like I've gotten darker on the left side when doing a long drive...?

Thanks for the pics. Can I see a pic from the outside which shows your side windows and windshield? I'm curious how stark the difference is when you leave it untouched.

@Genau yeah it's not really about heat rejection for me, mostly for privacy and somewhat for looks as well.
Happy to do it. This is what I have: Thermal glass, 15 % rear and side windows, no tint on windshield but Exhoshield outside but it is clear, and no additional tint on the sunroof so it is factory. My sense is that it is very bright inside and you can see everything from inside out, but from the outside, you cannot see anything through the tint, but you can through the windshield.

AFAIK it is UV that causes sun tan, so no, unless you drive with your window open, you should not be getting tanned. I have UV activated sunglasses (they get darker when hit with UV light) and they do not darken at all inside the car (hence I have to use clip-on sunglasses when driving).

I went Nano ceramics

20% all around 50% on the windshield

SUV I did 20% all around 70% front and even with perfect heat protection on both, the extra kick of dark on the 50 for my windshield give a lot better anti glare in the miami sun than 70%.

perfect view on both cars both %s tho.
