Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but a quick search didn't show anything about it. Does this work with Cross Tursimo without pre-installation for bike rack?

This is the option I'm mentioning. My car doesn't haven't it and Porsche says they cannot retrofit:

It brings the bicycle stand to 3330 euro's. Willie's solution offers more possibilties and is a lot cheaper... Thumbs-up for Willie...

No. I was trying to understand how to retrofit the preinstallation. Without that, I don't have any options, Porsche or not

Nice find. Pelican makes awesome cases. I would almost feel bad having to drill holes in the bottom to make it work. The dimensions look fine and they’re pretty sturdy boxes that I would bet it would be strong enough to carry anything you could put in it even though it’s only supported at the ends (bar spacing is 48”). Would clear the tailgate fine. Practicality might be a bit limited as the interior dims are only 8”x8.5”. Might be tight even getting a large size bike helmet in there.

By bar spacing do you mean 48" - the open distance between the 2 bars or is this center to center bar measured?

About 48” center to center. Or more accurately 1215mm.

They’re very nice. The one touch release and the struts that automatically open the arms are very convenient compared to the 1up. Every bit as solid as the 1up. Some other advantages are the built in cable lock, quick adjust for different tire sizes, and the small hook that holds the arms in the closed position so they don’t rattle. Disadvantages are that they’re a bit heavier and bulkier than the 1up, and they’re twice the price. I’d still recommend the 1up as much or more than the Kuat if value for $ is considered but Kuat wins for premium feel and function.

Built in lock.

Cable stows away and a magnet holds it in place.

Arms store away with a latch to prevent rattling.

Very nice one handed release mech.

Same hardware on the 1up works with the Kuat. Just needed some shims since the T slot was a bit shallower.

Ah you plunged in I had been going back and forth on this since announced but TBH just don’t travel enough with the bikes right now to warrant the upgrade (mostly ride direct from house) - love the tech and quality (not the weight) so might still consider later - thx for showing and reviewing.

Have any of you transported kids bikes on the 1up? I.e. 16" bikes? Looking to see how I should haul the kids stuff around.

my daughters bike is probably 24” and the tires aren’t big enough for the 1up tire holders. I have to put some wooden blocks underneath the tyres to lift them up. Don’t think it would work for 16”

You shouldn’t have to use wooden blocks. The rack is adjustable from 16-29” wheels.

This is because I am preparing a platform made of aluminum construction profile 3060 black, which I can then mount directly on the bars as soon as they arrive and I need these sizes for that.
By-the-way is anything more known about the departure delivery of the bar?

Dimensions are 497/255/63mm for a/b/c. The hole diameter is 10mm on one side and 13mm on the other.
Have you seen this in previous posts? We made it with 8020 extrusions and Yakimo exo mounts.
