The reason I bought my Taycan was the way it drove and it wasn't a SUV but had 4 doors for occasional passenger use and space for my dog.
There was actually no alternative on sale in the UK which suited my requirements and if I hadn't bought the Taycan I probably wouldn't have bothered to replace my car at all.

Range and straight line long distance cruising are only a minute portion of my usage so of very low priority. I almost never go in a city.
I’ve been doing some regular 300 mile trips recently and whilst nice not to have to charge a quick 15 minute driver break and top up charge has been a breeze and more often than not charging is faster than the driver break. For me it’s not an issue. Sure I might drive that distance in an ICE but actually feel safer taking a break. In the end Taycan is such a great car to drive.

I find the same.
I have only charged at a fast DC charger 4 times since I bought the car and chose one near a cafe but on all occasions the charge I got whilst ordering and consuming my drink was more than enough of each occasion.
Other than that what I get on a full charge at home has been enough for all my journeys.

Oh man, that would never fly for me. I sometimes have drive directly into customers plants and I catch enough flack with the Macan (I more often have a service van). The 911 would be completely out of the question (even if it could carry all of my tools; which it can’t) and a Ferrari of any type would be unfathomable.
Here Porsche has a worse image than Ferrari IME. I think it goes back to the Thatcher/Lawson days of "greed is good" where a Porsche was a necessary yuppy accessory.

I find in my Ferrari a truckie will often lean out of his window at a stop and yell "swap you mate!" and in the Porsche try to obstruct you as much as possible.

That is my experience anyway.

Generally I agree but so far, clad in strikingly beautiful Mamba, I’ve had no adverse reactions and only very positive comments. I’m sure courteous driving driving helps.

You already use it as a city car. :)

The point I am making: This big battery makes driving an EV even better than an gas powered car, like the Audi A6, which I recently rented. This Audi gave me suddenly range anxiety, when I check and saw that the tank was almost empty after less than a week.

I have always found courteous driving helps too.
The Taycan hasn't been anywhere where a truck can cut me up yet and people do like the colour.

I just took my new EQA 250+ from Munich to Berlin in a 600km stint. Had to charge twice, since I needed at least 200km range on arrival for the next day.

The point: The self driving features are so good, that you can drive 600km in one go without a break. The tech is better and better, the battery size is the problem.

That may be here too. I don’t know. People definitely drive like assholes more when I’m in a Porsche.

My wife complains about it frequently. Of course, my wife just complains frequently in general. ?‍♂

I would love an 800km range ev but it would only make a difference for the occasional road trip we do, and then only a small one, so not sure I’d be willing to pay much of a premium for it?

Not with you.
I have been in a city in mine once but usually I go to Oxford city centre on a bus and London on the train, though I haven’t been in London for years.

I think that makes you a set of 1. What you describe here seems to be 'riding' (like a train), whereas we seem to be focusing on 'driving'.

I have not experienced yet 'range anxiety' - only 'charging anxiety', as in I'd go to some area where there is no charging. But it turns out electricity is fairly common - there's always a plug somewhere. I have 0 need or wish for an 800 km/mi anything.

A city car is almost exclusively used for short local trips. Is this a hard to grasp concept for large land owners? :)

I enjoy driving my Taycan plenty. But there are moments, when you have to get to place further away more or less on time...

What is the difference between the two anxieties? Both are produced by a shortfall in tech.

Besides, you sound like the guy who was listening to radio and explaining to all his friends, that he has no decire to buy a TV.

The tech is coming because it is essential to kill the diesel car for all those who do up to 700km round trips on a day for work...

This is true, for towing too.
The big increase in fuel consumption when towing a horsebox is annoying with a diesel but when the "tank" is small like an EV not acceptable.
Whilst there are EVs available which can tow none would be any practical use IMO.
