Trip logs!

Electric Sidecar v1.3-7 now shows your car's trip logs. See each trip's distance traveled, average speed, and average energy consumption. Electric Sidecar can also show battery status for a given trip using your on-device battery history. Battery history will only be available for trips made since installing the Electric Sidecar app and at least one widget.

Other improvements:
- Fixed legibility of battery history labels.
- See your latest trip on your vehicle's home screen.

This is great and simpler than I’ve had to do in the past to retrieve these data - BUT! - would it be a pain to ask to add the other three data listings I.e. trip length (I know stupid simple to do given you have start-end mileages but already calculated so why not just export), average speed and most important mi/kWh - just adds 3 columns to the csv export and makes life super easy if graphing/using these data for other calculations?

Had to ask! Thx as usual for everything and the speed at which you are updating the feature list for the app!

Ah! For sure. I was on the fence about adding them as I didn't want to clutter the data if it wasn't useful. Easy to add it in though. I suspect this exporting mechanism will benefit from some configuration options in the future.

Working on Live Activities for the various states the car can be in, starting with charging

Looks like Live Activities will require a server component, so I'll be pausing the functionality for now as there are still many other features I can add that don't require a server component.

The unfortunate reality is that there doesn't appear to be a dependable way to update the Live Activity on a frequent basis without having a server. My ideal version of this implementation is one that gives a real-time reading of the car's state of charge as you're charging, so that you can walk away from the vehicle and quickly understand how far along the charge is. But to do this right, I want to make sure that account security and privacy are the primary focus and that's going to take some time.

In the meantime, I'm noodling on a new feature for doing device notifications when you forget to plug the car in overnight, and a few other alert-based features. Are there any kinds of such alerts you'd like to see in Electric Sidecar?

Hey - putting in another request to ask if you could include the average kW and speed data as two additional columns in your Trip Log output file - this would be very useful for those tracking performance etc and hopefully a fairly trivial edit

v1.3-10 is out!

Trip exports now include speed and electrical consumption data!

Also improved the polling logic behind the app with the goal of providing fresher data while the car and app are in use.

I also have alerts and Dynamic Island / Live Activity support currently behind a debug-only feature flag, and will continue iterating on these two features over the coming weeks.
