Was cool to charge at the first V4 site in the world - with operational payment terminals! Also please note using the ahem ‘correct’ bay, so no blocking the Tesla faithful ?

No cable length issue this morning…plenty long enough.

This new SuC site is not on the Tesla map yet, so the app doesn’t work to initiate charging for non-Teslas, which is a shame as you can’t yet get the cheaper sub based rates. It was 50p this morning and yesterday evening I came to do a longer charge and it was during the peak rate period from 4pm to 8pm, so more expensive at 58p. In the fullness of time this site will appear on the app / map and the cheaper rates around 12p less typically should be available.

Anyway tap to pay works really well. I used my phone. Initialisation was pretty quick. Actually faster than many other networks so Tesla have done well here.

11 out of 12 posts here are working / commissioned. Interestingly all the posts are still made in Buffalo NY, but the new cabinets are being made in Shanghai. First ones I’ve seen from out from China.

A QR code on the screen at completion of charge gives a link to VAT receipt. Happy Days.

(for any non-UK/RHD Taycan folks stumbling upon this thread, scratching their heads, our DC combo port is on the left of the car. For anyone in NA we all use CCS2 here - not to be confused with CCS1, so no adapters/magic dock etc etc needed. Also far better latching etc. In short it’s fine)

Tesla SuC sites photograph better at night or in the twilight too!

Looks like it isn’t on ZapMap either. Why don’t you send them the details so they can add it? Of course that might make it busier so you could just keep it quiet!

Usually Tesla add their new SuC sites to their map / app within a day or so of opening.

This one has been a bit unusual in that respect, and I had a thought that its maybe because they want to do a shakedown of the contactless payment facility - Tesla's will charge as per usual without using the screen and just plug and go.

If it doesn't appear on the Tesla app within a few more days I'll give it a nudge and maybe ZapMap et all too, but the existence of this new site is no state secret. It's been all over the press and X / Twitter the past week or more. I'd be surprised if Z/Map etc didn't already know about it.

Nice! Is this at the first European V4 Charger site that opened in Harderwijk in the Netherlands four months ago ?

No, as per post above, this is the Tesla service centre at Tottenham (about 6 miles from central London).

Harderwijk was the first Tesla V4 site in the world, but does not have the payment terminals included.

We have around a dozen new Tesla SuC sites here in the UK that will use V4 that will be coming on stream in the next few weeks and months. I think the next one will be in Cornwall as its complete and waiting for its grid connection to be switched on.

Nice to see that it worked so well with a payment terminal! This rubbish of needing to have several apps, cards, dongles drives me nuts In Sweden. The networks are quite sparse anyhow and thus several options are needed. Tesla with the app is a great help though as they also have opened quite a lot of stations.

And Tuesday I did two long trips of about 450 km each. Tesla celebrated their 10 years Supercharger opening in Europe and all juice was FOC!

Free juice here too in the UK, but I wasn't here to see it.

Frank admission; I still own a Tesla Model X that has "lifetime" free supercharging, so every day is on Elon ?

Nice!

What charging rate did it provide and how does that compare with other DCFCs you’ve tried?

I did a longer charge there yesterday evening and plugged in with around 25% SoC, and the battery wasn't particularly warm; I was seeing a peak of 136kW. The average over my 14 minute charge was 127 kW.

In comparison I was at a 300 kW (1000V capable) unit earlier in the day (Fastned), but the battery was warmer and a lower SoC - there I was seeing around 201 kW peak.

But not an apples for apples comparison. The max we could ever hope for on a Tesla SuC is a theoretical 150 kW (with the DC booster option fitted).

Thanks.

I somehow thought that the V4 stations could provide more power, but I guess that’s true only for 400V EVs…(?)

At the moment the SuC cabinets can still only supply 250 kW @ up to 500 VDC to the pedestals. The V4 pedestals are rated for higher voltages (up to 1000 VDC).

So in future possibly...

Of course the limiting factor for us in Taycans is that the most we can hope for is 150 kW (absolute best case) with these lower voltage charge units. Still I've got no complaints there.

Right - so my original thinking wasn’t completely off track.

I’m anxious to try using a Supercharger with our Genesis GV60.

In addition to the required (but not yet available in the US) adapter, there’s apparently a technical hurdle between the SuC and E-GMP platform cars that limits charging power to something like 50KW, which would be a big bummer if not overcome.
