They will pay you at 4.1p on an OI tariff for export. I had an email today telling me that they are increasing the export rate by the end of the week to 15p on the OI tariff. I think this is the same rate as their standard export on an non-EV tariff. Maybe they want people to store it overnight and export in the day. I don't think we will make much doing that as we use most of it. But it will become advantageous to export in the day and charge the car from the grid overnight rather than discharging surplus energy into the car then topping up from the grid. Interesting. Probably becomes less good to use the excess electricity to heat water and use oil/gas instead.

That is interesting, but I agree, I have little excess after September, and I don’t yet have an EV. But it’s interesting that there could be a bigger difference between night buy rate and day dell rate. My Powerwall will probably decide to do some interesting things!

Update on Octopus Intelligent. From the end of this week the export tariff will go up to 15p/kWh. So I could charge overnight at 7.5p and send it back at 15p in the day. Not sure it’s worth the bother but will certainly pay a bit more for surplus solar. At least it will next summer
I saw this one twitter.. err sorry X this morning..

it's been one of the annoying things about moving to OI.. need to have the car to do a test charge (which won't come till Dec) as well as having to more down to the SEG export tariff. hopefully this makes the OI switch easier now

So I’ve noticed that the Enode charging profile that octopus have added changed the charge times I’ve set, I set it to 11.30-5.30 but now it’s changed to 8am to 4am, does anyone know why it keeps doing this?

doesn't using OI mean that octopus can provide their cheap rate outside the 11.30-5.30 window too.. i.e. when they have surplus demand. The way I read that it means they might offer your additional hours of charge at different times to suit then.. the supposed 'Intelligent" part.

Not switched to OI yet myself but watched this to help get my head around it.. (I think!)
