Thanks for sharing this photo. Is that a StoNSho? If so, what is that piece on the front of the license plate?
Looks like a toll tag. With insulated glass it can be hard to get an internal one fitted in the allotted windshield space in the Taycan. I managed to get mine inside, with minor modifications (see this post).

Yes StoNSho. And yes, EzPass toll tag. EzPass windshield tag is an ugly white piece of plastic so I prefer not having to see it.

Thanks. That is an interesting solution. I would likely only put my front plate on for going out of state….which is precisely when I would need my EZPass. I like it.

In NJ where I live, front plates are required but I refused to drill into the front bumper of my Turbo S and don’t like the look of the other temp options.

I keep the front plate in the Frunk and, while it may not get me out of a ticket, cops tend to understand and look the other way. Even if they don’t, I’m told it’s a $150 ticket and not considered a moving violation where points are involved on your license.

I have had the car almost 2 years and have yet to receive a ticket. I figure even if I end up with 10 tickets over the years it will still be the lowest cost aesthetic option I have on the car…

I've seen four of those in the wild now that I've started paying attention to such things. Every single one of them was cracking and peeling, and looked like hot garbage. I would definitely recommend doing some research on durability before you spring for that.
I’ve had mine on for 8 months and zero such issues. Looks the same as when I put it on the first day.

I live in Hawaii where a front license plate is required.
Unfortunately when I put on the license plate holder and plate ….on the tow hook … the right front sensor was on constantly.
OP, do you happen to have a picture of the setup that failed/triggered the sensor?

As far as I know, the Taycan does not have a front tow hook; the standard-spec plate holder mounts cleanly to the bumper, and does not cause any interference.

The tow hook attachment is on the right side of the bumper behind the circular knockout. It would interfere with the ultrasonic sensor below it.

Practically speaking, the OEM plate holder is the least janky looking option. If you can't stand holes, 3M VHB tape would do the trick.

Right - my bad. It doesn't have a rear towhook. (I tried to tow my Elfer with the Taycan and couldn't. I'm half expecting to be corrected on that, too ? .)

I considered VHB tape for the standard plate holder, and it seemed a bit risky to me - the contact patch is very thin (a couple of mm). Holes it was (and I won't repost my photo of drilling in, but it's here on the forum). ?‍♂

Even if CA cops are aware that the sticker is legit, seems like traveling out of state would risk getting pulled over since it looks like a homemade joke?
The driver could carry the relevant CA documentation regarding its legality and hence not get ticketed , but still doesn’t sound fun.

One of the fellow cast members in a play I was in once told a story of road-tripping from Delaware down to Texas and going to a bar in some small town. Upon coming out, there was a gang of good ol' boys giving him a not-sure-how-serious-and-probably-don't-want-to-find-out hard time about his fake license plates from some made-up place that nobody had ever heard of.

Now, in fairness, DE's plates (at least in the 1980s, perhaps things have changed) do look like they were both designed and stamped in a jailhouse broom closet, and that "THE FIRST STATE" at the bottom looks cheesy as hell.

But still...

You think the officer who would be willing to pull you over to see if it’s “real”(considering it matches exactly to the back plate) wouldn’t pull you over for no plate at all? Especially out of state? Doesn’t add up.
If you prefer to roll the dice with no plate or don’t like this option fair enough, but it’s certainly less of a reason to get hassled.

I've been driving with actually home made decal plates on my cars for over a decade now. Ok, home designed and printed at a signage shop on weatherproof vinyl. I've driven with them coast to coast. I have been pulled over out of state once (for speeding), license plate decal was not an issue. I showed it to a cop in my own state and asked if he'd ticket me for it, and he told me no. Further, he mentioned that while parked, I am allowed to have my car covered with a car cover and hand written license plate number on the cover, so if hand written counts, why would a decal not count. People cover their license plates with heavily tinted covers which makes them extremely hard to read (they do it because they think that makes them immune to police lidar - a myth based on a grain of truth, but the actual result is something like they can be clocked from 5900ft instead of 6000ft, so pretty much useless), mine is clearly visible and legible. Personally I think I have less of a chance of getting pulled over than if I had no plate at all. And even if, it matches the rear plate with $2,000 annual stickers on them, and I have the metal front one (no stickers) in the frunk too if they really wanted to see. With all the sensors in the car, I really don't want to screw with sensor reflections and such by mounting a metal plate anywhere on the bumper.

My previous car with license plate decal below (using an old picture showing radar/laser countermeasures locations - that is the real solution for not being clockable by lidar btw):
