Hi All , i have had my taycan cross turismo nearly a year now and iam finding that iam not getting close or ever had near the predicted(or advertised ) 270miles to 300mile . The best ive had is about 245miles and at the moment its dropped to 190miles .I have not done a great lot of miles but when asked dealer first they said i would improve at 1000mile and so on when i keep asking .What are other getting in UK, iam based in northwest England where the weather is mainly raining . I appreciate any comments or suggestions .TA

In UK you will never get the theoretical 270 - 300 miles.

245 - 250 max in summer at 100% in Normal Drive Mode and 225 in winter months - Performance Battery Plus.

The aspirational number you seek is based on lab WLTP testing and not indicative of real world so you can safely ignore the quoted range.

Ambient temperature and use of AC (heating) is the real drain / most impact on range (as is sensible driving).

Focus more on your consumption data - miles / kW. A good UK number over a reasonable distance is 3.0 - 3.2 mi/kW for a 4S with aero wheels

Also take a glance at the range estimator on the Taycan website - it's quite accurate.

Taycan Turbo CT on 20" aeros in Lancashire here- the guesstimator often shows around 245 miles on a full charge, lowest 190, highest 270. As per posts above, the (slightly understated) consumption figures are the ones to check. Over non-local journeys, I see 2.3 - 3.3 mls/kWh. Local journeys can easily be less than 2.0 mls/kWh, so if that's the majority of your miles, 190 on the guesstimator's not bad.

I get a few miles increase in estimated range by using A/C eco which is completely adequate in the UK where it rarely gets either very cold or very hot by international standards.

My guessometer gives around 245 to 270 in summer and 220 or so in winter.

OTOH I don’t worry about range since I almost never go that far from home and when I do I stop at a charger with cafe every couple of hours.

I have achieved real 240-250 miles during this summer with 10/15 miles left. On occasions 260. However with the temperature drop of the last 2 weeks it’s already down to 220 and I guess ( based on my previous EV) it will drop to 190/200 when colder and winter tyres on. 190/200 is what you should expect.

My 'range' took a hit after the big software update last year, and never came back. This summer, best i saw was about 230 and right now its a touch under 200.

As for the miles/kwh numbers i rarely get above 2.7.

I’ve had 4 taycans this year and the vanilla taycan rear wheel drive gets 245. The cross turismo 230. 220 for the 4s, four wheel drive, 200 in sport mode. Like you I get no where near 300 with the plus battery. It’s not just Porsche who declare impossible figures.

But Porsche doesn’t declare those figures. My 4S averages about 215-220, which is dead on their online estimator tool and slightly higher than the EPA rating.

They do in Europe, which is where the OP is from.

The difference between the WLTP and EPA ratings is that the EPA is easily achieveble in the real world. The WLTP isn't. Without getting into a discussion about the rights or wrongs of this, I'm reminding people across the pond that there are different efficiency ratings in Europe and the U.S.

The OP's model (Cross Turismo 4), is listed on Porsche's website as having up to 304 miles (WLTP) range. Again, we can discuss about whether anybody would ever achieve this, but it would be useful if people appreciated that Porsche *do* declare these sorts of figures.


In fact, I'm getting de ja vu. You and I had this conversation ten months ago. You still can't seem to grasp that Porsche *do* claim 300+ miles of range in European tests.

And again you cherry pick numbers. On the UK Porsche site, they show the MAX range (under a perfect spec CT using the flawed WLTP measure) of 304 miles. For only the CT. And the range from low to high is 258-304. All other variants are much lower and Porsche’s own range estimator on the same page will show lower in almost every combination. The blanket claim that ‘Porsche is publishing unreal numbers’ is nonsense. It’s an excuse by people who didn’t do their homework, which, IIRC, included you.

Yesterday(29/10/23) drove from London to Birmingham & back. Total miles: 236 & had 32 miles left once back home. Taycan RWD with PB.

You take the one extreme outlier and conclude ‘Porsche claim in achievable figures.’ Pure nonsense. And some people have actually achieved those ranges in perfect spec/temp/driving conditions; ie outlier, but possible, results. You’re not in a profession where the interpretation of data is key, are ya?

It would be helpful if you actually read my posts properly. You seem to be engaging in a discussion about whether Porsche's figures are dishonest or realistic. I'm not. I'm simply correcting your statements about what Porsche "claim". You've said twice now (the first time in January) that Porsche "don't even claim those figures", when they do. The reason you keep making this mistake is because you keep forgetting the figures on the U.S. Porsche website are EPA ratings, and the European websites are WLTP ratings.


Oh, and as an air traffic controller in one of the busiest pieces of airspace in the world, I interpret data multiple times per minute.
