I asked them what it includes and other than brake flush and filter, the rest was 100% bullshit.
yeah service on these cars are way for porche to entice the dealers to sell these. the 20K servoce is Kinda BS in my opinion for what it cost, most likely they will find sonething that also needed addressing for a additional cost. have 2 teslas and with 40K + miles each and no service . go figure

Does this brake fluid service require a trip to the dealer? Or can it be done at a reputable local shop?

Just had my 2021 4S serviced. €515 euro. Brake fluid, air filters, cooling system check up , battery health check, tyres checked brake wear checked, and full valet. Excellent value for its first service at Porsche Dublin Ireland.
Phil - curious if they discussed or provided any detail on exactly what their "Battery Health Check" involved i.e. was it simply a PIWIS OBDII 'flash' readout of Soh or did they actually perform full cycle testing of your HV battery or some other module integrity test?

I dont know the detail of what they check, I had a general discussion with service about the car after the service and asked about the condition of the battery and if that was something they check in the service. I was interested to know if there was any degradation after 21,000km and two years as the car regularly indicates a range of 470-440Km and an average consumption of 18.2hW/100KM over the last two years. Based on the recorded performance I am impressed that the range seems to be as good after two years as it was in its first year so I was interested if the service confirmed that and simple answer was battery health was fine with no issues noted.

Yes, I figure the most they’d do at that service would be a simple PIWIS flash reading (if even that TBH) - full cycle testing is time/labor intensive and very unlikely to be done outside of a really bad result on the flash reading.

In Orlando, Fl, the dealership charges $1,750.00 for first 2-yr maintenance service. When I asked the service advisor what’s included they said air cabin filter and break fluid flush/replacement. I asked then why is the cost so high, and she just shrugged her shoulders in an “I don’t know” fashion.

Mine had the two year service performed between return by the previous owner and sale to me (also Central Florida) but that estimate would make me demand a cost breakdown before I paid. Porsche do recommend changing the brake fluid every 2 years but I have a hunch there are some non required extras added into that estimate.

The 2 year service was included when I purchased my car from the Ocala dealership at $770. That was two years ahead of when the service would be done so $700, or less, discounted to current dollars. If the work required is actually done this service is about 2.5 hours of labor (I owned a repair shop for many years so I have priced these services many times). This work is quick and easy for a tech that only works on a single marque. Add in the parts (brake fluid and cabin filter) and $770+/- seems fair for a dealership service department. Much above that is getting abusive. Techs are almost always paid based on a labor guide flat rate for specific tasks. I'd love to see how many hours techs are paid for when performing a 2 year service versus the labor hours charged the customer when invoicing $1,750 for the service.

By law in the U.S. (Magnuson-Moss) required maintenance can be performed outside the dealership system without compromising the vehicle's warranty coverage. The work and parts have to be comparable to what the dealer would do ("like kind and quality") but almost any Porsche aftermarket shop could do the work without impairing the warranty. However, there is a certain value to having all the work documented through the dealership system while under warranty. Eliminates the argument that the maintenance work wasn't done or was done incorrectly should something go wrong with the car. There is a value to staying inside the dealership system. It's up to the individual to determine if what the dealer is charging is worth it. Personally at $1,750 I'd head to an independent shop.

Tampa quoted me $800 for the same plus a few other items.

This forum is awesome. I just called Ocala Porsche per your suggestion and was quoted $770+‘tax for the same service Porsche of South Orlando wanted $1,750.00+tax. I booked the appointment with them. Thanks for your feedback GTM.

Cabin filter is easy to replace yourself and gets way too dirty if waiting even 12 months, cannot imagine what it looks like at 24 months, ask the service to leave the old one for you to inspect, if not doing yourself to find out. My rule is 5k miles but no more than 12 months. What I do not know if someone can help validate when getting 2 year service is if there is another cabin filter for 4 zone climate setup.

I hope you read the forum fine print that states anyone who gets another member a savings is entitled to half the savings. ;)

I suspect that the customers of most high end dealerships don't often question the pricing for various services and so they charge what they can get away with. Porsche of Ocala treated me very well when I ordered my car at a time where allocations were almost nonexistent and addn'l dealer markups were standard. No BS for an incoming allocation and no attempt to add to the list price. Customer service has been outstanding the few times I've needed any. Limited sample size but they get my seal of approval.

Here's a trick that hopefully the Porsche service centers don't pick up on and refuse.

Schedule a service center appointment and request a "inspection". Don't request a maintenance. Tell them you are going to sell it and just want them to print out their inspection report. And once they do it, they'll call out things like the cabin filter and washer fluid.

At that point you can decide to let them do it, or just do it yourself.

I'd love for someone to call and report back the cost. You'll get a good laugh on the difference in cost vs a 2 year maintenance. Works well for me.

Has anyone done the 2 year service in New England/Northeast lately, can you share cost and dealer? Thanks!
