Echoing @WasserGKuehlt's comments. I'd go for it. 2 days is a great road trip. Taycan is amazing at road tripping. One of the better ways to get to know your car quick. Taking the southern route should not put any significant snow in your way, but if the car is on summer tires, watch the temperatures too, anything under ~46F/8C and all summer tires start losing their grip performance. If you got all seasons, you can drive around the clock. Might want to play around with PCM simulator online ahead of time, so you're familiar with the screen controls.

Good luck and enjoy your trip! Take pictures along the way for some fun memories. See the trip reports section of this forum, including the linked above fly-and-drive ones for any possible additional hints based on others' experiences.
thank you .. I'm glad so many are reinforcing the fact that the Tycan is a good road trip car.

When are you picking it up? If few days out, just ask the SA for a picture of the tires and it’s markings. If you post them here we can help you interpret. Also, if this is a used car, check the tread depth of the tires (whether to drive it home or ship it) - tires are your safety.
thank you for your insight.. Ironic.. because living in Southern California.. I've never used all season ;) I'll have to double check what's on the car.

I did Dallas to California in June 2021 - the charging was mostly great until I hit California, where I hit my first contention for chargers. Albuquerque was downrated.

I blogged it here:
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/road-trip-report-texas-to-california-round-trip.11386/

Also included my log from http://Chargey.app for the trip here, if you're interested in seeing detail on any of the specific stops let me know. I've for you to try the app for your trip and give me feedback!

You will have a great time!

Suggestions:

- Route first using www.abetterrouteplanner.com
- Then look up each stop in plugshare.com and check the recent ratings
- If any look sketchy, poke around plugshare to find contingencies

What I like to do is create a Note on iPhone, and paste URLs for each of the planned stops, so I can quickly check status on the fly. I like to find 1 or 2 fallbacks in case of problems, where the first fallback is (ideally) another DC charger, and the second fallback is an AC charger as an “any port in a storm” scenario.

Actually even though normal tyres start to harden below 7C their tread block stability still means they are better braking and grip than all seasons or winter tyres on dry surfaces well below that.

Less good at draining water though. Personally IME they are fine if it isn’t heavily wet and no snow. They really start to be inferior in snow and icy conditions and deep rain.

Ah, around here we call those “CT” or “ST”; also, please know there will be a test on proper pronunciation of “Porsche” during your first week of forum membership.

?
Good luck; it’s a fantastic road tripping vehicle. Welcome and enjoy!

I’ve done that drive a dozen times. Get yourself some books on tape and it’s a breeze. My only advice is to plan your charging at locations with relatively more chargers and stay on the main highways. I’ve had one bad EV travel experience, taking a less traveled road that lead to smaller charging stations. For reasons I won’t get in to, that led to a 4 hour wait for a charger.

The other reason to avoid backroads and small towns is due to the risk of power outages. We drove our ICE car to Death Valley over the holiday and the power was out for three days. We saw a women trying to charge her Tesla all three days with no luck. The hotel generators were not used to power up the EV chargers.

3 days! I'd be looking at tow charging after 1 day. Probably much easier on a Tesla than a Taycan, just set regen to max and don't touch the accelerator. On a Taycan you probably have to ride the brakes while watching the power meter.

He's from California, so must be used to power outages and broken CCS1 chargers. ;)
lol. Im actually from another place that can just as easily be poked fun at. I’ve lived in both of the extreme political climates and find them both to be insane. The weather and the back roads are just better here.

As for the relevant facts, the route where I had the 4 hour wait was the 101, which is a scenic route. It was a smaller Tesla supercharger station with no broken chargers. The problem was they shut down the 5 due to heavy snow and routed everyone to the 101 where there was insufficient charging infrastructure for the volume of traffic routed that way. It was an outlier for sure.
