Edit: I was not sure what Taycan batteries are before posting (Metal vs. Ion) and @Hirschaj pointed out in post #5 that this is not what we have in the Taycans, so please refer to his link to cover this topic.

I would like to get opinions on this recently published research to see if it is safe to do so on our Taycans to boost SoH as a once on awhile rebalancing exercise. So far, we have a procedure to rebalance the pack to boost SoH that has been suggested by @ciaranob, but this is more extreme, which is " Stanford researchers have discovered that you can improve the battery’s cycle life simply by letting it rest for several hours in the discharged state. "

"Lithium-metal" batteries vs our lithium-ion batteries. Different chemistry in the batteries they were studying.

What’s the procedure?

EDIT: I guess it’s this one https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...ery-soh-performance.12815/page-42#post-286665

This other research is really interesting and could potentially lead to methods for restoring our batteries over time. This research used Lithium NMC like we have in our Taycans...

“We found that we can move the detached lithium toward the anode during discharging, and these motions are faster under higher currents,” said Liu. “So we added a fast, high-current discharging step right after the battery charges, which moved the isolated lithium far enough to reconnect it with the anode. This reactivates the lithium so it can participate in the life of the battery.”

So charge it to full and drive like hell? Got it. On it.

Are you sure Taycn batteries are Lithium metal?....or Lithium Ion?
Worth checking, since it has been recommended not to fully discharge your battery.

They are lithium ion, not lithium metal.

Under the circumstances, It look like a bad to experiment with this technique.
Perhaps Porsche will come up with new charging strategies going forward.

What technique? The OP posted about Lithium metal batteries which we don’t have. I posted about lithium ion which we do have.

The Stanford article refers to lithium metal batteries and longevity improvements through using s full discharge-rest cycle....not applicable our Taycan lithium ion batteries.

There are 2 articles from Stanford that are posted. 1 is about lithium metal, the other references the word lithium metal (and links to related research) and then goes on the explain their research about lithium ion NMC batteries just like we have in our cars. You should consider re-reading this thread.
