Wow, this is exciting. You're likely the first in North America to do this.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the system cost you (in USD) and what were you quoted for the install?

Looking forward to some clips after it's done!

The sound system was purchased from SpeedART. The manufacturer of the system is Maxhaust.
Around $2k parts and $900 for installation. System has numerous sound effects and a lot
of adjustability. It works well with the Maxhaust App on my iPhone. I will record some video soon.

I recently bought a used 2022 Taycan RWD. It literally had all the add-ons I wanted except for two of them (ACC and Electric Sport Sound). I do think I would have enjoyed the ACC convenience but I picked it up from Portland and drove it all the way down to SoCal without really feeling like I needed it. However, I really want the Electric Sport Sound. I know that the ACC can't be added on as a modification and I was fine with that.

However, without doing any research, I thought the electric sport sound system was going to be something I could add on at the dealer.... But that's not the case. I have been quoted at $4,000 from Porsche Newport.

I bought the car at a great price ($76k with 14K miles white 2022 RWD with mission e wheels, ventilated seats, LCA, sport chrono package, battery performance plus, premium package, heated steering and 150kW on-board fast charger) so I am very much okay with eating the cost of adding on the electric sport sound. But wanted to see if anyone knows of any shops that have experience with Taycans. I have not been able to find one that seems to have enough Taycan experience for me to feel comfortable with them to do this major modification.

The quote from the dealer was about 10 hours of labor at $300 an hour. I'm sure a stereo installer or auto shop can save me some money but would like to know it's from a reputable Taycan shop to take that risk. I have reviewed the installation guide from Tequipment and it looks to be complex.

I found my shop by asking a member of the Rocky Mountain Porsche club. He is the technical advisor for the owners of race car level of cars. He was a good source for a qualified shop. The install of my SpeedART sound system went well.

Am I correct that even with the factory $500 option, it is only heard if in Sports plus? TU.

No you can hear it inside and outside in any given setting...from Normal to Sport Plus. However, the sound slightly changes in Sport/SportPlus especially with up/down shifting.
I do have it, and use it mainly in city traffic.

You can turn it on in any drive mode.
And, thankfully off ;)
Not sure it lasted more than a minute before I switched it off.
Bizarre how powerful familiarity is, that we try to emulate one of the greatest weakness of an IC engine because it has been such a big part of being a car fan despite that!

I have kept a real V8 IC engined car for fun and sound but it is really cr*p compared to ther Taycan for power delivery (obviously).

Purely a matter of my own personal taste (or lack of) but it’s an option I wouldn’t specify again. I try to remember to turn it on in town or on quiet country roads at dawn/dusk just to enhance the possibility of my being noticed by pedestrians/fauna but I find the sound just faintly embarrassing to be honest. To each their own, of course.

Also I’d not specify the 22kw onboard charger again (although I believe it’s currently not an option on v2.0) as I’ve used it once.

I like it, imagine a scene of a repulsorcraft speeding across the desert, but with the sound off.
It would be better if the volume could be adjusted both inside and out, and independently of each other.

I keep it off in all modes (instead of Sport Plus just have Individual defined as SportPlus with no sound), but I do turn on the sport sound when driving at night on rural roads to scare the animals away. I drive in silence maybe half of the time, some music the rest of the time, mostly when driving with others in the car.

I do like mine though on highway or longer cruises I turn it off. I mainly have it on if I want to have some fun or I am in a parking lot.

I admit that I like it. I could do without the simulated shifting but the low speed sound outside the car is fun to me and definitely grabs attention.

Hey, it's a Porsche. Can you blame me for wanting to advertise it a little? :D

Well for me the biggest 2 benefits of an EV are the motor characteristics of being quiet and having the ability to produce output over a very wide RPM range, both impossible from an IC engine, so emulating that which is worse about them seems a bit daft to me, Porsche or no.
