So I’m currently sat in a car park in Seaham, County Durham UK having dropped my son at cricket training. On the way here every time I put my foot down the car backed off and the snail symbol appeared. It’s driving and accelerating modestly but it won’t accelerate harder. I’ll call the garage in the morning. Anyone had this? Oh and I’m also currently without heater as I’m waiting for until the 29th of March to get them replaced. So disappointed with this car. Shite.

Is it exceedingly hot or cold?

I had turtle mode once on a very hot day, under me punishing the car very hard.

Neither mate. It’s 7 degrees Celsius here so can’t be heat or cold. That’s mild. I think like 40 Fahrenheit?
It wasn’t doing it when I drove home but it was stuttering! If it were a ICE I’d say a blocked jet in a carb that kind of stutter. Bizarre. I’ll call the garage in the morning.

That was exactly what I experienced in turtle mode. The car was lurching and struggling. I could barely get it up my driveway.

Once it cooled it was fine and it never happened again.

Is the battery temp high? I keep mine visible on the display after that experience.

Nope not the battery. No other warning symbols other than the snail flashing on then disappearing. Sodding thing.

Somewhat similar experience, although I didn't get the snail symbol.
The car would barely accelerate, all other functions were ok. After a few miles of this, I was able to get it home. My SA told me to lock the car for about 15min and try it again. That was about 6 months ago and it has never happened again.

Cheers. Hopefully it’s just another glitch. They are getting tedious and boring now though. Exacerbated by the heaters not working either. It’s not done this in the last 20k miles. I’ll check again tomorrow.

I got the tortoise during very cold upstate NY weather...15 degrees F.
I was in Sport Plus and the battery did not like my asking for so much power.
I turned it back to Normal restarted and all was fine.
Apparently, this is a normal response when there is a risk of battery damage....either too hot or too cold.

I don’t think I could have been temp as it was only about 40F. I’ve not tried it out today.

Just got this snail warning limiting the speed going up a steep stretch of motorway with a bit of car vibration. At 90k km and never seen it before. It stopped when the road flattened out. Car was relatively cold as this was 5 mins after setting out. Take it in or just keep an eye on it?

In normal circumstances you are not going to have "car vibration" or anything of the sort. Believe me, we have -20C here in winter...
Something is damaged on your car. In best case it's the coolant pump and in worst case it is one of the inverters going out.

It is not going to fix itself, and it is going to get progressively worse until you get stranded. Have it looked at.
