Hmmm. Anyone else also think it would’ve been more?

As in you feel he should have gone farther?

His test vehicle was on 21's and it is a wagon. If he had been on 20's and it had been a sedan he probably would have gone another 10 miles or so.

Yeah, thought it would have gone further. You’re right about it being a wagon and the larger wheels though. Maybe my hopes were too high after watching it get hyper-miled (with 4 people in the car) and getting something like 450 miles

When he made the hyper-mile video he averaged like 40mph and was driving in an urban area with regular street traffic. It is a world of difference when it comes to range if you are going 40mph in town as opposed to 70mph on the highway.

With the thread's title and this post, you have saved me the time needed to watch the video. Thank you. :like:

Yeah, I skipped to the end since I find Kyle's video's to be way too long. The last 5 minutes cover the range test results, and also cover how quickly he charged from 0% to 100% after the test. The larger battery and the new charging system make the Taycan even better of a road tripping machine that it was before.

Impressive. I am not sold on the new front, but the updated efficiency, bigger battery, and faster charging speeds, make it hard to not want to upgrade.

Yah I am not a huge fan of the angle detail on the front or the headlight change. I am going to see it in person in June at PEC ATL and am hopeful in person it doesn’t seem as watered down Taycan as it does in video and pictures.

Yeah .... I think the software update in 2023 increased the CT4 range to almost 270-275 miles. The new J1.2 now has a net battery of 97 kWh vs the J1 of 83.7 kWh, the battery increase itself is already close to 16% which would give a similar increase in range of about 320 miles .... and supposedly with all other new efficiencies etc, I would have expected more than the 311 miles that he got.

Well I'm not very impressed, I have the Taycan ST propulsion, I did 400 km in France 19 degrees, highway at 130 km/h, consumption 18.6 kwh so potential range of 451 km, yesterday in town 15.6 kwh.
I find that for 50 or 60 km it is not worth changing, I would wait for v3 :)
or the macan

Think that’s very impressive my current turbo at most gets 220 at that speed

Didn’t watch the video but isn’t the range on highway at 70 mph naturally 30-40 miles lower because there is no regen? On my GTS I would get a theoretical max of 200-220 miles at that average speed.

So he gets 500 ish km. I get 420 ish in mine (21 mission e) in normal mode with normal air conditioning. Close to 450 in the 20 standard turbo wheels; at ambient temps of 10-25 Celsius. (93% battery health on last mejurment)

80km extra is nice, but far from game changer. It would need to be at least 200km extra.

Honestly feels like porsche under promised with j1, and over promised with J1.2.

Honestly, the only real benefit of J1.2 is the charging curve speed. Staying at 300kw+ speed from 0% to close to 70% is quite insane. My j1 could only dream. 0-50% i can barely reach 250, and after it goes down to 200, 170, 150 every 10% and then after 80% its 60-70kw...

For a refresh, this is all fine…. We’ll need a new model for a breakthrough. It will be obvious as to when Porsche has achieved this as they will make the battery smaller (not larger) and still deliver more of everything. That is still off in the future.
