- 2023 Taycan TCT, 2024 Q8 eTron P+
You can get EVSE’s which will give you more control over when and how fast. To take it to the extreme, get OpenEVSE and modfy the code (or just write your own scheduler and interface with the open API) to calculate the current to charge your Taycan evenly all weekend long, if you would rather it trickle charged for 60hrs - perhaps Porsche would appreciate such long term telemetry data, longevity of the battery and the car electronics, now kept ON a lot longer. Or, the lazy solution, just get a Level 1 charger and use it for weekend charging. Maybe you can disprove their “ not good to charge very slow for a long time” claim. The charging algorithm seems to be “greedy” ie reach the target asap in the first window. That’s a bit annoying at times - I’m not driving it at the weekend much, so if I plug in Thu evening it will be ready for Monday by 4am Fri morning. ?
