There have been news articles about another Taycan Recall regarding brake fluid hose pipes. Details attached in the links.

1) https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/porsche-recalls-all-taycan-models-globally-brake-fix
2) https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V455-9259.PDF
3) https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCAK-24V455-3337.pdf

I checked with Porsche Reading - and they confirmed that only 365 cars in the UK are affected.
Thankfully, my car was not in the list.

This information from Porsche Reading is a bit confusing because elsewhere (on US sites) it is being said that all cars manufactured in last 3 years will need to have the hose pipes replaced.

Did the EU/UK cars get manufactured with different noise pipes or is it that only a particular batch has this problem (and maybe most of thos cars were for US)?

My car is going in on Monday for the APB5 (High Voltage Battery) fix - so I will try and speak to someone and double check and update.

Thanks @Porsche-Guru. My car (late 2020 build) is in for its heater replacement early August. Be nice to Line up the brake hose replacement if required too ?

My worry is that the UK dealerships do not have the complete list of cars yet.

The same happened in US as well. Only a few cars were initially listed for recall, and then it became a wider recall.
Is the UK going through the same or is it actually limited to 365 cars only. Do not know !

Nobody knows for sure how they will expand the recall, only Porsche.

Looks to me this will be the same Ostrich approach with the head in the sand as it was with the heater recall. I am now on my 4th heater, since they discovered a problem in my car when at the 30,00 km service. Despite reassuring me there was no recall and no issue with my heater. On day of collection the message came through, “”We need another week to get a new Heater”.

My dealer has to change brake hoses on all the new MY 25 Taycan before delivery. Go figure!

Update: 01 July 10:00am

Dropped off my car today morning for another recall issue (the High Voltage Battery fix).
Asked the dealership to look into the Brake hose pipe issue.

Asked to speak to their head tacan technician and was told that
  • UK dealerships were informed of the issue, about a month back.
  • Stop-Sale action on UK cars at present.
  • 365 cars supposedly need to be recalled for the hose pipe issue.
  • On 03 July - Porsche will be sending out more instructions; and possibly letters out to affected car owners.
  • Were not aware of an actual complete brake failure issue faced by another UK member (dealership Sutton Coldfield). However was informed that the PCM would have given a prior warning; as it would take multiple pedal presses to get to complete brake failure.
  • Was informed that 'real world' chances of hose actually being damaged very low under normal driving. No incident reported in over 4 years.
  • Technician explained that there were (relatively) more chances of damage when riding at full-height and using full steering lock. This goes against what is being said on US forums - go figure..
They will check the car brake hoses anyway.

Lets see what more I hear when I go to pick my car in a few days....

This is helpful thanks as I am awaiting the fix before I can take delivery of my new car! As far as I know from my dealer, they do not have the replacement parts yet and referred to a "few weeks" timeline

What is the date of manufacture of your car?
If it is after 13 May 2024, then it should have the new hose pipes and should not need any replacement parts.

Checking now and hopefully it was after the May 13th date. One thing I noticed on the spec sheet was, "Launch Spec", so not sure if this was a launch car and built earlier than the 13th.

So, my car came off the production line 22/04/2024 so missed the updating and therefore potentially needs a replacement hose.

I am told that the dealer will "Have an update" for week 32, beginning of August......

UPDATE:

I have received a formal response from DVSA.

Porche GB has confirmed that a total of 21,466 Porsche Taycan vehicles will be recalled for brake hoses.

The UK recall figure of 21k seems to correspond to the total UK Taycan sales to date.
The previous figure of 365 mentioned could be the percentage estimated to have the fault. It is unclear but my guess is that for safety reasons all existing cars will eventually get the modified parts via recall, with those found to have the problem on examination addressed first (assuming parts supply will be limited and dealer stock will be fixed first to allow sales to continue).

For comparison, the US information says;

Number of potentially involved : 31,689 Estimated percentage with defect : 5 %
2020-2025 Porsche Taycan
Production Dates : OCT 21, 2019 - JUN 13, 2024
VIN Range 1 : Begin : WP0ZZZY1ZLSA65780 End : WP0AA2Y11SSA08287 sequential

The figure of 31k also seems to correspond with the total USA sales figure

The UK recall isn’t yet listed here:

Yes, I was also disturbed when I saw that one! When mine goes in I’ll be asking them to confirm all of the recalls have been actioned - I wonder who now owns the first car affected! Me?

Had another discussion with Porsche dealership today regarding the brake hose recall.

1) Dealer conformed that all Taycan will be recalled. Just 365 cars are affected only, do not worry - all that nonsense gone. Now accepting that all Taycans manufactured until May 2024 will be fixed.

2) No stock of brake hoses as of now - so this is going to be a slow burner.
21,466 cars need to be done - so this is going to take quite a while. UK may or may not be on the priority list for global stock delivery.

3) The biggest issue of all !
The Taycan can only be repaired by Taycan trained technicians (Porsche policy), and this is what is going to really put this recall on the slow train.
Brake hoses replacements have nothing (technology or mechanically) specific to do with the Taycan, but the Taycan can only be touched by Porsche Taycan trained technician.
There are very few Taycan trained specialists available.
Common sense about mechanical repairs is out of the window, welcome to corporate bureaucratic policy making. Expect long wait times.

Have not gone to pick my car yet - but will have a chat when I go…

Update: 12 July

- Got my car back (HV battery fix done)

- No real update on brake hose issue. All dealer said is that letters will be sent out by Porsche GB in the post for brake hose pipes replacement over the course of the next few months. Will be handled like any normal recall; except this time it will be 21,466 letters !

- Brake hoses on my car were inspected and they are fine. No signs of any damage.
