Just had a call from the dealership - to get my car back they are quoting $6.7k to replace the protection plate as they don't want to fit the damged on - I'm getting an estimate tomorrow as that seems absolutely over the top

I would be losing my shit at this point and making a scene in person until they returned MY PROPERTY.

This dealership is definitely scammy.

How long can it possibly take to put it on the lift and screw the plate back on???

This has cemented my resolve on how to handle my own Taycan. If any dealer mentions underbody damage I will not let them touch it.

If the car burns down, so be it. I’ll get out and toast marshmallows.

Given the depreciation it’s just good money after bad trying to repair this “fault.”

And I’m not getting a Taycan. Some sort of SUV that has some ground clearance.

I guess you've probably gotten a lifetime's worth of unsolicited advice by this point, but if you're in the mood for any more, I would make phone calls to the service departments of the three closest dealers in your area not named Tom Wood Porsche of Indianapolis.

I would say "I'm having some trouble with my Taycan and I'm not comfortable with how I'm being treated. I'm contemplating having it towed to you and wondering if you would be willing to work with me on this.". If they show any indication of interest, I would say "I'm going to send you a link to an online forum thread that will explain all the details of the situation. I'd like you to read it and get back to me with your thoughts".

I would update this thread with what these dealers say (assuming they consent to having their responses published). I would also then tell Tom Wood Porsche of Indianapolis that I was doing this, in case they would like to take the opportunity to change the opinions of their business practices that seem to be gelling here.

Probably better for cooler heads than mine to prevail. Safety is paramount. But it does feel very wrong how they are forcing money out of your wallet.

This is with a cool head - no lights and/or errors. These cars are sensored up wazoo

I wouldn’t pay either of those fees. I would be talking to Porsche NA and seeing what some other dealers say. Super strange.

Specifically asking Porsche NA what the estimate is to replace the underside, and what diagnostic services and fees should be expected. Again pointing to this thread.

Seems weird they won’t put a dented protective shield on the underside is already damaged what is the logic? There probably isn’t any.

Again I paid $289 for the cover being removed, and a full estimate to repair including some sort of physical inspection of the battery casing etc. oh and they put the car back together and hacked up a temp solution for my windshield reservoir. All same day. That is a huge gap $4k vs $289.

If the dealership won’t budge on the price, video them installing the panel. See exactly where the 6k goes. Maybe they employ 10 guys to lift the panel because they don’t have proper equipment.
