22 RWD Taycan that I've had for 2.5 years and 23K miles. Internal alarm sensor recall, PCM seizure subsequently that required dealer reset, heater recall, and just recently my AC charger side stopped working (appointment pending). (And let's also not forget the brake hose recall that my NorCal dealer says they don't have the parts for). Best looking car I've ever had, best driving car I've ever had, and most emotionally attached I've ever been to a car.

My first year of ownership of 2021 was a shit-show... I found a new glitch with PCM every couple days, various errors, warnings, plus recalls, turtle mode fixing, etc. Today the PCM signed me out and I had to go through this shit in the middle of a roadtrip

Sorry about all those issues. I've not had anything serious apart from the schizophrenic PCM - don't lose faith in the car! Do you know how to reset the PCM on your own? The two finger, upper right corner hack?

I am not aware of this hack. Please explain what the hack is and when it is appropriate to reset the PCM?

When the PCM freezes or goes blank, you use two fingers (ie put your middle and forefinger together), and press them against the glass in the far upper right corner of the display (where the time/temperature reading is or supposed to be). If the display was frozen the screen will go black and reboot. It will go to a mostly black/red screen and say "Quit Engineering" to which you say "yes" or "quit" (I can't recall). From there it will reboot. No harm testing this while PCM is working to verify what I've shared here.

PCM signed me out yesterday for no reason also.

Thanks for the tip!

There is one rule that I recommend be followed when owning a Porsche EV or any other P car. The rule is to reside no more than a few miles from a dealer. I have had all the recalls cited above with my MY21 RWD and assume will have in the future with my MY24 4S. Thankfully, a loaner was available for each service visit. I reside less than 2 miles from the dealer at my primary residence and 4 miles at my other residence. I find it easier to drive to the dealer to check the status of my repair versus trying to call. I cannot fathom how difficult the logistic would be if I had to drive 50-75 to a dealer to get my car serviced.

I have had a few issues but nothing terrible. PCM stability was iffy until they updated it last winter. Since then it has been good. Sensor issues

I live 3.5 hours away currently, it’s annoying but oddly enough not horrible.

I have had good luck with my car. My biggest issue was self inflected. There have been multiple recalls, but not much more than my Subaru (who just had brakes recalled).

Porsche MSP is likely a key reason it isn’t bad, they strive to get me loaners, help shuffling car etc. and no recall to date has been so serious I can’t work it into a business trip leaving the car there.

This has been hands down the best car I have ever owned. That said some of its tech is frustrating. The lack of a clear roadmap or long term support is concerning. There was a lot of posts about tech Porsche never delivered, and the battery tech doesn’t seem much more advanced, I am still not clear why the new batteries can handle higher temperatures.

The 2 things that seem to be most concerning are

1. software updates for any J1.1 or J1.2 feel very short lived given the move to both android auto, and rivian ECU / network architecture. Maybe it doesn’t matter if CarPlay just works.

2. NCAS port might quickly ramp up, but there is an adapter for that, I think.

To leave on a positive note. I bought my MY20 just before the major update that increased range. I had about 215 miles of range maybe 220 in late summer/fall when I test drove and agreed to buy it, The car got the update before I took delivery and was getting 260 miles.

That was at about 25k miles. Now it has nearly 60k miles and I can still get 245-250. Which is more than I expected at purchase time.
