My Taycan turbo was just diagnosed with a bad cell for the main battery. Just wondering what lead times those of you who need a replacement cell are seeing.

Thank you

Mine just got done this past week / weekend. I had 4 recalls done at once:
-heater replaced
-brake hose replaced + bleeding
-ARA4 for battery cells replacement
-brakes software update recall

Waiting time for ARA4 was 3-4 months. Car functioned like normal, no range or performance degradation before the recall.
Brake hose replacement was actually not even supposed to be done, as they had no stock, but i guess i got lucky.

Update. One of the cells in the battery needs to be replaced and is coming from Germany. Unfortunately, my dealer has no update on how long it will take to receive the battery.

Has anyone heard anything on lead times this month?

My 2020 4 S had the HV battery replaced with a remanufactured battery of 2023 vintage supposedly. My car suffered rapid range loss and the the HV battery failed when undergoing troubleshooting. The whole caper took about a month. YMMV.

Update: in late November my car with the remanufactured battery suffered range loss. It is at the dealer for two weeks now awaiting the battery crate so it can be shipped to a third party repair facility....the dealer estimated four weeks which I am afraid may be optimistic.

You’re looking at months wait. Your dealer cannot perform this work and require a visit from a master tech from Atlanta to come out and do it.

Wow that is unacceptable. At what point should I be considering this a lemon law issue?

Depends on the state and if it’s a new vehicle. My particular car spent five months straight to get that fix. However part of that was diagnosis. Believe it was about 2.5 months once they decided to repair it.

How long ago was this? I heard from my SA that lately there have been more problems with batteries and the wait is longer. Trying to confirm if this is true or is he trying to push me into buying a new Taycan :)

My SA ordered new cells for my battery but has no idea on the lead time. Does this sound normal?

Somewhat good news that I did hear from my local dealer technician is that they will soon (your guess) have a trained battery technician on-site. He said Porsche's goal is to have one trained battery technician at every dealership. I guess we'll see... ?

It would be interesting to know if dealer service with trained battery tech on-site means HV battery modules can be replaced without Porsche fly-in battery doctor being present. A Porsche PR article some years ago seemed to imply that the 3rd level specialist was required.

Edited: My dealer service has tech with HV battery tech training/certification completed a couple years ago. He needs hands-on with one more battery repair while Porsche battery specialist is present in order to meet criteria for repairs without Porsche specialist traveling in.
