Hey guys,

I only have a 2021 RWD for 2 months now. And I love it. — I checked that previous owner was able to make 33.000 km with average 17,4 kWh /100 km and for what I experience with my trips (5000+ kilometres) it is never below 20 kWh. I guess I bounce between 20-22 kWh. So I am curious if it's just me, still playing with the torque and all the driving modes, or if that's average number.

Cheers ?

The consumption numbers will be all over the place for all the usual reasons. Tire size & type, temp, driving style, sedan vs CT/ST,... it's a long list. Personally I average 19.2 kWh/100 km. 65/70% highway driving (100 to 130 kph), mostly warm to hot temps, mostly flat. Not ideal but better than stop and go short trips. YMMV applies.

Edit: Should have said my consumption is from individual trip data. As @Gru states below, the app lifetime figure is fantasy.

did you get that number from the Porsche app ? it's totally underestimated.
I have 17.0 after 72000km, but I've never been below 20 in real life...
Do not focus on that and just enjoy the car !

Actually, I took it from PCM directly, as there is the "all time consumption" info.

As the local saying goes: "whoever bought the monkey must also have money for bananas"

No worries, I don't focus on that too much. And I love the car really. Being old enough to enjoy the nice things and not worry about what might go wrong.

I actually did that, and did not find the topic. Can you ping me links to it?
Did you tryi typing 'consumption' into the search - 25 pages+ - as a starter for 10?

Topic has been discussed since 2020 so plenty of data for MY20 to MY24).

That number is not the average consumption. It is far from it. I don't even know what to call the number. It's the average consumption of the last consumption reading per trip, not the average across the entire trip.

Usually 22 - 23 when I'm not pushing on. GTS ST with 21s. Not sure how you guys get 17.

Is it the average of the averages? That way I can understand the weird numbers. But this should be basic math that the average of averages is not the same as the average of the total right?

Neither in my case.
It is just incorrect. My "average" is higher than the best I ever get, if it were average of averages it would be even further in error.

Maybe a "calculation" done by the marketing dept confident in the knowledge most customers won't notice???

I suspect it could be a Smoothed Moving Average, but that’s just a hunch. It displays only average consumption by averaging out the most recent raw data points. It flattens random peaks and valleys (noise) from changes like acceleration or braking, thereby showing a more consistent and reliable consumption trend.

That probably happens when driving, yes, but the total trip data from the app, which in my case is every mile since I bought the car, shows 3.2 miles/kWh average.
Typically long trips are between 2.6 and 2.8 with one at 3.0 and short trips around 2 to 2.4.
It is mathematically impossible for the overall average to be bigger than any individual trip.

So the average in the app for my car is definitely wrong, or every average of every trip I have made in 2 years is wrong.
They can't both be correct.
