How fire ends my Taycan Love story ...burnt to the ground

To Taycan Owners...
had an accident on a wet road @90km/h

To make a complicated maneuver... simple...car position itself perpendicular to the concrete garderail.
So the shock was kinda brutal ... and the car bounce back to the middle of the way.

Airbags ... all activated ...
"Ding dong" and the speaking lady alarm sos went trough...As well as smoke ? inside the car...

And then I looked at the flame outside ? in front of windshield...?

Jumped out of the car and watched it ? ? ? ?


Nb my vin had to make a battery recall & brake recall (2 days?only? into workshop few weeks before)

Is it normal that fire ignite at that speed????even with a shock ? I then looked around if can find any crash test for these EV like euroncaps ... but not successful .

Fire is always impressive .... and I am looking to the "replacement" right now ?....

PS:was lucky that I could go out of the car without a glass breaker ...then 10buck indubitable must have (that porsche DO NOT provide even payingit)

Speed matters of course, but any puncture of the battery and a fire is almost unavoidable. And once it ignites, you need a container of water and place the car in ti to put it out.

yep ... amateur you would say ... but the raod was completly shit as well so best combob ever to perform that @ low speed ... and guess what few days after was a 812 gts that was smashed... exact same weather and location

actually fire caught on the left side (from an internal point of view) up to the frunk ... it is rwd version so in front only fluids (AC / oil etc... I guess)
just to give a bit more info ... it last +/- 4hrs !!!! and fire was stopped (3 times ) at the certain point but always ignite again in this " front left side"

had a fresh michelin NFO set - not blaming the tires for sure

from shock to first flame : 1 min or so ... then heavy fire (and SHRAPNELs like fire - that is why they stopped traffic both ways on this road - 5 mn or so - quite fast

I am lucky no one in the car, nobody hits me in the back - I do not crash into another car

This just further illustrates the need for next generation batteries being developed over time which have reduced fire risk but for now the battery suppliers are focused on energy density, life expectancy & cost. They will get to it eventually but until then drive safe…
