Porsche Taycan Zero Outstanding NHTSA Recalls NHTSA Recall

After four years of getting PCNA recall letters and the HV battery being replaced in September of 2023, after the Red Circle of Death, all recalls have been cleared on my 2020 4S with performance battery.

PCNA determined that since the battery was replaced with a newer version it was no longer subject to the latest battery recalls. Now back to being able to charge above 80% on those rare long drives when needed. The car is now sorted out and continues to be a fabulous drive.

Getting my brake lines replaced next month, which will bring me to zero. Agreed that it's nice to have the car fully sorted. Man, I love this car!

ARB6 & ARB7 impacts 2021 - 2024 Taycans. Since mine is a 2020, but with a 2023 battery, I imagine I'll get this new letter. Zero for a moment is blissful.

"Now back to being able to charge above 80% on those rare long drives when needed."
I thought any such limitation would be advised only upon having the monitoring software installed and then a fault detected?
(Now that my Taycan will be charged until a couple more weeks or so...)

The limitations were advised for all battery recalls in 2024; via the recall letter / email.

The new software will enforce it, as in, you won't have a choice but to be limited at 80% if any recalls says so.

Very few cars have this software right now. I suspect mine will get it in december when I bring it for yet another battery recall

Also, again, insanse that such things are not OTA.

^ I'm losing track of the status of all the different recalls, but did U.S. Taycan owners receive the letter yet? The recall has yet to be issued for us since that can be easily checked at the NHTSA site. I definitely have no received an email, although I can't remember if the letter arrived (then perhaps I didn't save it?), but would be strange to issue a letter before the recall is issued, especially b/c the image previously posted in this thread shows a Nov 29 notification date.

Tooney can correct me, but as I understand it, most of us (up to 2024) don't currently have a battery anomaly and are free to charge to 100%. On November 29, Porsche will send a notice for us to come in and 1) have the battery checked, and 2) if the battery is okay, have monitoring SW installed. Later, if the monitoring SW senses a bad cell, the car will automatically go into 80% max mode and the owner will need to arrange to have a cell replaced. Who knows how many cars that will happen to before the 8-year warranty runs out.

If your Taycan is included in ARB6 (Porsche does not have OTA VAL info for your VIN), you will be advised to limit charging to 80%.

This recall (ARB6/ARB7) applies to a vehicle population for which Porsche currently has no positive knowledge that data anomalies exist in the high-voltage battery modules. For ARB6, Porsche does not have sufficient high-voltage battery data to assess whether data anomalies exist in the high-voltage battery or not. For ARB7, Porsche does have sufficient high-voltage battery data which currently show no data anomalies. Even if Porsche currently has no positive knowledge that data anomalies exist, Porsche cannot exclude that these high-voltage battery modules might show data anomalies in the future.

Regarding ARB6, as a precaution, the owner notification letter will advise that affected vehicles should only be charged to a maximum of 80% of the battery capacity as an interim remedy. Regarding ARB7, an interim remedy (i.e., a reduction of the battery capacity to a maximum of 80%) is not necessary. This is because ARB7 applies to vehicles which allow Porsche continuous over-the-air access to continuously monitor and assess high-voltage battery data and detect future battery module anomalies in a timely and reliable manner by using data analytics. If a battery module anomaly is detected, the affected modules in the high-voltage battery will be replaced and the owner notification letter will advise that affected vehicles should only be charged to a maximum of 80% of the battery capacity until the replacement. As a final remedy (for both ARB6 and ARB7), an on-board diagnostic software will be installed on affected vehicles to detect future battery module anomalies.

I think we are all waiting on the Nov 29 letter in the US holding our breath if we are the "it" for the replacement. I am booked to get 3 recalls completed next week and asked to check on ARB6/ARB7 and they are not in scope as of yet. The way @Tooney has been educating everyone here is that the letters are first, then software install is Q12025, then we wait to get notified if we are "it".

Is there a way to know if a Taycan is ARB7 and has already being monitored?

When your car is taken in to install the diagnostic software, the battery will be analyzed by the dealer to see if battery repair is necessary:

Before the on-board diagnostic software is installed on affected vehicles,
the high-voltage battery modules will be analyzed. If this analysis shows
no anomalies, the on-board diagnostic software will be installed. If this
analysis shows anomalies, the affected high-voltage battery module will be
replaced prior to the installation of the on-board diagnostics software.

^ So that means, upon arriving for the recall appointment, might be just a relatively short wait at the dealer for the SW installation, or could instead be without the car for a week or so while waiting for the cell swap.

Thanks. For US owners at least, any idea why they wouldn't have the OTA info? Is that for cars that have gone dark and not connecting to the server?

You have to give Porsche access to your vehicle information. If you have not done that, they likely will not have access to your vehicle data - at least that is what the privacy policy says.
