Interesting thought/factoid about nails/screws in tires. You rarely see them in front tires with because the nail/screw is lying flat on the road. The front tire kicks it up, and the back tire collects it... ?

I have factory Pirellis on my GTS ST - assumed all UK cars had the same but obviously not.
My MY23 GTS ST came with Goodyear Eagle F1s - it was from an OPC and a year old but with less than 200 miles on the clock I assume they were from the factory.

This year, I had this issue exactly 3 times.
We cannot repair tires here with high speed classification.
ordered a complete tire set with insurance now.
this was the biggest screw of the three I acquired:

Last couple of times I’ve replaced tyres either Asda or CostCo have provided the best price (£75 per corner cheaper than the dealer). Asda subcontract fitting.
Neither is somewhere I’d thought of looking for tyres, but Google did.
There was a later version of the Eagle available, if changing a pair.

Ok so took it to a local tyre place; they removed the tyre and showed me how close to the edge it was saying they couldn't do it. They didn't have the tyres (obviously) so weren't looking for a sale.

Mind you - the rears are 3mm each side after only 7500 miles. Bloody hell. I'm surprised really as my 2250kg 600bhp RS6 easily got 15 - 20k out of tyres....

New boots going on tomorrow.
it was the same for me. Tyres on my RS6 had to be replaced because they were 7 years old, not because of wear! 35k miles (PSS). Got 9k from the Pirelli’s on my GTS over 11 months.

So based on £1200 for a set of tyres and only 9000 miles range the tyre cost is 13p per mile.

Surely I’m calculating that wrong???

So for every mile driven in a GTS I’m spending about four times more on tyre wear than electric???

my RS6 wasn’t that uneconomical after all lol

After all, it depends on the tire-pressure, the chassis-allignment and you driving.
I am sure one could easily reach 15000 miles on a set, but I want to enjoy driving a Porsche.

I took out alloy and wheel insurance (3 yrs). One puncture leading to a tyre replacement and it's already paid for itself. No brainer next time around I'd advocate.
Can't remember whether my Cayenne wheel insurance also covered tyres- I never needed to claim for tyre damage- but the Taycan (from a different Porsche dealer) has smart repair insurance that only covers the wheels, not the tyres.

Tire insurance usually comes with buying the tires. It's separatw from any Rim damage insurance.
Cost me 10€ per tire over 3 years. (100%, 75%, 50%)

Ignore this post.

I read the title thread and thought it was about something else.

I was going to ask whereabouts and take a trip down there.

Sooooo...... 2 months later - hit a pot hole and ripped the sidewall in my front passenger side...

Massive bang and tyre lost pressure immediately. Pulled over at the next opportunity only to be greeted by another stranded car with the RAC - 'haven't just gone through that pot hole have you mate?'....

Another £600 to replace both half worn fronts. I have raised a clam with my local council; funnily enough the hole was fixed within 24hours following my claim?!?
