New PCM feature: YouTube integration for J1.2 Taycan ... maybe hope for pre facelift J1 Taycan?

They bring it to the 911 which lacks that screen and option. I have hopes it will come to us peasants with the j1. My passenger display already is able to play video from USB, and it pauses nicely when I start driving

It's just another app for the PCM, they could easily bring it. If they had OTA, it would only cost them testing it on J1 cars, and given no car integration, it would be relatively inexpensive. However, if they have to pay a dealer to take the car in, give customer a loaner for a day, spend x hours updating, then it makes no fiscal sense for Porsche to deploy it. Maybe, just maybe, if this is part of another recall they have to pay dealers to apply to the PCM anyways - similar to PSM update which came with brake lines recall, it was not available separately (and no, you can't tell me new PSM software requires new brake lines).

I still can't belive that there are no 3rd party shops "hacking" things like this in, as the PCM architecture is the same, and all you need is a up2date PIWIS and the knowledge.

This whole brand makes no fiscal sense ?

Not enough customers who have Taycans, and are willing to pay. Think about it, how much would YOU pay to add YouTube to your car?

mooore Power! as a feature I would be willing to pay on J1, is having the full power not only during launch control. maybe on the configurable button, or selecting sport plus. Tesla has given that paid option to their users and everyone is happy (they get money, we get power). I have a GTS Sport turismo and sometimes willing to get a boost on highways

thanks, Yes I've seen it! that just fuelled my willing to have it, as just prove its technically feasible and is only a business/commercial decision .

I wish porsche could sell it as a FOD, because installing a modified chip void the warranty;

There is a Porsche version, just very expensive: trade in your current Taycan for a 2025 version with Push-To-Pass feature.

LOL, true, but even the 2025 has mooore hidden power to unleash... so same concept. please Porsche give us all the power available, AND bring back the original model-E eyes design

Even if my car had YouTube and even if I wanted to watch it, Porsche would more than likely require me to subscribe to their data plan. Why would I do that when an Android Ai box is $100, has way more features than any car platform will ever have, and from then on I can use my phone and its data plan.

That I don’t know, I don’t have the second screen bit my guess is yes. Whatever CarPlay shows should display.

This is in my Audi and mostly towing, but any android app can be displayed.

Carplay can't be displayed on passager screen (in J1.1 at least).
