...that is the question.

Hypothetically speaking; if you did get or would get the upgrade from @redshift-performance, would you re-badge your car to match its new-found personality or de-badge it, so as to avoid a future personality conflict?

Talking about badges... all of our performance upgrades come with a high-quality domed @redshift-performance badge which is designed to withstand harsh environments. Of course it remains up to the customer to decide whether to apply it or not.

I’m all for people doing whether they want to their car….but please do not up-badge it.

I have a 911 GTS tuned to > 600HP. It’s not a turbo. It’s not a turbo s. It’s a tuned GTS.

Its badge is factory deleted though because those scripts get long and busy.

I agree. In principle.
And I think the GTS should be out of the question, it's just too different, in too many ways.
But for arguments sake, what if you up-badged from a 4 to a 4S?
Or in my cars case: a 4S with every performance option added. The upgrade would give 611 full time horsepower. Compared to 616hp for the turbo and S (2023 numbers). Very equal numbers and i think the argument could be made that the Redshift tune would have the advantage with the unfiltered throttle option.
(Obviously, excluding launch mode over boost. Which accounts for less than .1% of our driving.)

Mostly a feature of 12 year old BMW 'M3' diesels with heavy tints and loud exhausts. And stickers.

We could probably all agree that upbadging ICE cars is sacrilegious. The grey area in EV's is different. The vast majority of components in these cars are the same, the rest is 01's & 00's.

IMO if the car looks really good, it can pull off the de-badging. I think that would be my choice. Give off a lil 'come found out ' vibe ?.

The motors and inverters are not all the same. There is some sharing in different trims, but, in general, they increase as you go up in trim.

Should've given you a shout-out for pulling off the de-badged GTS?
Does a fully loaded 4S with the 93kw battery have all of the same components as a turbo, just coding and $30k?

No, I don’t think it does. I’ll try to look up the motor and inverter differences, unless someone else has the information closer at hand and can share it before me.

Rear motor is bigger on the Turbo. It's also the same rear motor as the Turbo S

Up-badging is kinda sad in my opinion. Either buy the higher model in the first place or revel in a "sleeper" which will surprise people. I would rather have a 4S that is surprisingly fast vs a Turbo that isn't actually a Turbo, even if it (out) drags a real one. But I would be more inclined to remove the badging from a tuned car to keep everyone guessing :)

Ironic badging is fine though. A Fiat Panda with a V12 turbo badge is just funny :)

It says a lot about the mentality of the person.
