When porsche builds a buy back offer is the starting point for market or wholesale as value basis?

I am weighing options to get out of J1 and move to J1.2 around the battery recall uncertainty and plan :(

What state are you in?

Buy backs are whatever you paid for the car, not what the car is worth

Assuming you are in the USA, buy-backs - if approved and agreed-to by PCNA - will likely depend on your states' Lemon Law regs - if your state has such - and the law's formula for calculating the car's buyback price. Most have a starting point of what you paid for the car, with a deduction for beneficial usage (miles driven). Buy-backs are rare.

In my state buybacks are limited to 60 days, and lemon law is for 24 months/18000 miles. Your user panel says a MY20, if that's the car, I don't think Porsche is going to do a buyback at this point.

You’re trying to get Porsche to buy back your Taycan since the battery recall so far entails…absolutely nothing other than remote monitoring for any Taycan owner who enables that?

Yes, I view this whole thing as a long slog with a lot of potential to waste my time, and leave me without a car consistently, So Talking to dealer and Porsche NA to looking at options, I didn’t really view it as buy back since I have owned it for a while but that is what Porsche NA said, I am skeptical. I am suppose get an update in a few days. Them saying that of course doesn’t mean they will do it, but the dealer and Porsche NA responses so far suggest we could find a mutually beneficial path forward. Not holding my breath, but seeing what is viable.

I don’t want to wait until my range is lowered or I have to start having modules changed to look at options and it takes time to find a replacement if I do get rid of the current one… so seeing what options I have.

Sounds like trade in time at the dealer. Guess you can all that a buyback.
Yes that was my first approach…one funny thing is the dealer doesn’t have a lot of firm timelines on J1.2 allocations and the stock isn’t amazing. I find the demand orders and allocation dance annoying, but I guess that is the Porsche way..

That is what I assumed .. rare. Starting the process was very strange.. too easy. will see what the next update is in a few days.

Yes it was a weird call. Will see what the next step is.

They probably used the a wrong term. They might be willing to give you a good deal on a J1.2, probably on an inventory unit. However, if you do a custom order, I'd be stupefied if they offered you an actual buyback based on your purchase price AND guaranteed that price until your custom order is delivered. Heck, I've only ever had one, out of quite many cars, where the dealer guaranteed me a trade-in value 6 months into the future. To be fair, they thought it would be only 2 months max, so I managed to get my trade-in price into the contract, with maximum daily mileage of course, then when the wait extended to 6 months they honored the trade-in price anyways, which I thought was very professional of them, as I have also experienced other dealers back out of deals I made with them (that's when I learned that the dealer lobbies have won great rights for themselves, to allow them to walk away from deal they make with zero penalties, only refund the deposit, not even interest on the deposit).

I took my car in for recalls and some warranty items back in March. One of the issues was the passenger seat sensor was faulty causing airbag error. I waited over 2 months for the part to come in and they wouldn't release the car while waiting due to safety reason. I asked for some compensation since I had to charge their MacanEV at my expense vs. using my own EA account. They asked if I wanted a buyback... I was like ok sure. They offered me a very attractive amount and I can keep the car, or proceed to the buyback process, which I chose. Waiting for the inspection now as that's part of the process.

I had the same passenger seat sensor faulty issue and waited a week to get the parts replaced in April.
Coincidentally, Porsche announced the recall on the same day that I pickup the car, so the recall status still show unrepaired.

That’s what I thought. The dealer said the recall is not the same as what they replaced, with the seat cushion and all. And that they had no parts for the recall and asked me to wait for the official notice to come back. I was puzzled but I guess I don’t have to deal with that any more now.
