After doing so much research, going back-and-forth, and deciding to finally pull the trigger I purchased a 2024 CPO Taycan. It had less than 4,000 miles, so it was not exactly inexpensive. It arrived today after crossing the country, and it would not start! The dealer assumed the driver allowed the battery to drain because he left the key in the vehicle with the windows down. After about an hour he drove the car off of the truck. The SA assumed he touched something he shouldn't have, but to everyone's surprise the battery was fully charged.. No clue.. This is pretty scary. Not to mention I am not able to connect to Porsche through the PCM. All of the information is correct, but it isn't working. Needless to say, it is going to Porsche in the morning. I am pretty bummed..

It is a beautiful car, and I absolutely love it. Has anyone had these issues? Have they been able to rectify them easily?

Was the car just left along for an hour, or did the driver jump the 12V battery, or something else?
I think he jumped the battery. He was angry that the dealer was blaming him for the car not starting.

They wanted him to take it to the Porsche an hour away. He was not having that.. I walked inside to grab my son and speak with the dealer. I came back and it was off of his truck.

Most likely this was a 12V battery drained. Can happen when car left with keys inside for a long time. Just in-case, get yourself a jump starter, lookup the procedure to jump start a Taycan so you know what to do if you run into this. If it does happen again, take it into the dealer, 12V battery should be still under warranty on a 2024 Taycan.

Thank you for that. I was terrified. Hopefully, the Porsche ID/PCM issue is as simple.

No doubt 12v is dead. You need a proper procedure to recover from it.

Regarding PCM login --
  • Step 1 - Set up a Porsche.com account at this link.
  • Step 2 - While logged in, go to the Profile page and add your info, including a Credit Card under "Payment Methods". You'll need a credit card for charging at Electrify America stations using Plug & Charge.
  • Step 3 - After a bit of time (maybe a few hours) try logging in on your car using your new Porsche.com credentials.
If this doesn't work, then off to the dealer you go!!

P.S. Love the color ?

Not the best start of ownership. Cancel the deal. Otherwise, it will likely be your pain.
There is only one way to guarantee never having to service a car - never buy one. In this case, drained 12V battery can be explained by operator error. It being a lithium ion battery it will protect itself against over-discharge. It’s also a 2024, so plenty of warranty left. No big deal, really.

Aha. I had the same thought with my 1yo old car that still stays in the dealership with no resolution. All started with 12v battery. Almost 4 months passed and I had to hire an attorney to deal with that as the dealership who sold the car refuse to take it back. I literally drove it for a couple of weeks. Believe me - a warranty is not something you can be 100% be sure in.

PS Its not a Porsche, but another big and premium brand…

In the UK Porsche have to register the car as yours.

Doesn't prevent using it - think I signed in as guest - but did stop Connect Services (which makes sense).

Took 24hrs to roll through.

There isn't a car which does not have nightmare examples. Sometimes even a whole model is screwed for a while, like the Porsche Carrera GT:
https://www.motorauthority.com/news...s-fix-for-carrera-gt-complete-with-free-tires
Every single car in the US was undrivable for over a year. As compensation, Porsche gave owners a free tires and $3,420 maintenance service. On a seven digit priced car, that might not even cover one month's interest on the money spent on the car.

Another way to put this, exceptions happen. People win lotteries every week, it doesn't mean any one player has any significant chance. On average 2 people in the US are killed by lightening every month , it doesn't mean everyone should stay inside. Thousands of people who died from COVID19 started with a fever, it doesn't mean if you get a fever you should call an ambulance and request being admitted an ICU. A number of owners here reported having to jump their 12V battery, but that did not result in their car being stuck at the dealer for 4 months or more.

Take it easy, strong logic man.

My point is that one cannot predict what this car may turn out to be. Given the fact that the owner hasn’t even got their car and it’s already broken, the best what they can do is go away and find another Taycan. You simply miss the point.

PS We have another owner of Taycan here on forum who had their car at the dealer for 5 times and the last time took them 8 month to fix the car. Their attorney is trying to help to get rid of that car. There are moments when one just has to go away. It’s just a car and it’s better to minimize the risks.

They did over a week ago. I can see the car, but it shows in Privacy Mode. In the PCM it continues to tell me my password is incorrect. I purchased across the country, so I may need to go to the local dealership and let them have a look. Hopefully, it is a simple fix.
