100% agree on all fronts. Just way more polished. The Macan EV also just improves overall on a lot of the quirks of the Taycan in general, not just with the PCM - made me jealous in the week I had it as a loaner. Luckily I don't like SUVs so I didn't get too attached.

It doesn't seem like a huge leap forward with the new PCM so I don't see it as a big deal.
As long as it doesn't lose my setting, I'm happy.

The Macan comfort entry is very novel. The car starts, plays CarPlay and unlocks as you approach so when you enter the car is ready to drive away. A bit unnerving at first as when you arrive you just open the door, leave and close the door, the car then shuts down so music is still playing and the car is running until you are out of proximity and then it locks.

I find such dumb automation infuriating, i hope it can be disabled in the Macan.
I recently had a Cupra Tavascan as a rental, and it featured the same function by default, did not have the patience to find out whether it can be turned off.
So the podcast you are listening to starts playing before you are in the car and can actually listen, and continues playing while you are leaving the car.

A car must do what you want it to, when you want it to, as you want it to.

Big Issue: The article says Porsche Connect is now standard for new Taycans for 10 years. You would think Porsche would back date this change for their existing Taycan customers. That is, if they wanted to earn our loyalty.

When is your freeze date?

My freeze date is April 2nd, build takes 30 days, late July delivery.
The only change is a $2k price increase and the updated PCM which I don't care about

2025 PCM is better than Gen 1 PCM. Mecan EV PCM didn't stand out for me.

You might need to cancel your order for a 2026 with a September delivery

the ask already went to the dealer - they have a brief tomorrow on all the changes and they’ll debrief me. They mentioned about 2% list increase at maximum, which frankly I’m okay with as new stuff is great:
- new Dolby codec
- 10 years software (Porsche connector), that’s huge in value
- full blown App Store. In Macan I have plenty apps and games
- full web browser (Vivaldi), on Macan it works great
- the new PCM itself on Android that’s super fast like light years ahead, I mean it’s like 60FPS screens compared to 10-15FPS on Linux. I have 2025 Panamera where there are already new items updated like “Tesla” like visualisation of road and all obstacles like other cars, buses, bikes, etc but on Macan EV it’s way snappier

let alone resell value (which is already horrible)

I’d say if you’re used to high refresh rate screens and fps like iPhone 15/16 pro max and PlayStation 5 pro / high end gaming pc you’d love this. On another hand - If you don’t care at all for tech and UI/UX - then it’s not worth it

I find the new PCM overkilled..lot of features are just to keep up with the market but they’re not practical or really useful.
The only positive side it’s faster and smoother, pretty normal considering years after the previous version.
Other than that, a bit more color here and there but don’t tell me dynamics or other graphs are useful and well developed/implemented!
Clearly they have to create something different, but doesn’t mean it’s better..got a loaner and played around..I changed my mind about trying to update my PCM!

I almost never use the pcm itself, mainly only for settings when needed. But on the Macan for example if you need to flick quickly from CarPlay to some settings or app and then back it’s instant. Also I find that on the Macan I increasingly use the apps from the store, or native YouTube app when waiting for someone or even the browser to open any other content. It’s lightning fast. Another advantage is how fast and responsive the instrument gauge itself is - that Adas visualisation view or map view for example.
so yeah it’s no polestar but it as good as it gets for the German manufacturers
