Porsche Reading called me earlier telling me that my vehicle is currently on route from the factory to Emden and will be shipping out shortly. He advised my scheduled pick up date of 23 November remains unchanged (if all goes to plan logistically) and that although the showroom will be closed they are still able to do hand overs. That, and everything else going on in the backend is unaffected by the lockdown.
Same dealer and same delivery date, apparently mine hasn't made it onto the boat yet either.

(I don't ever get a proactive phone call though and always have to chase it)

My car was due for completion 26/10/2020, I was told today that it’s at Emden but no idea when/if it’ll get to Porsche Cambridge.

Honestly this was a first, and suspect the only reason I was reached out to was because I gave a call in on Saturday morning to ask what the implications of the impending lock down would be.

Previous experiences of Reading have never been great, so much so that I actively bought from Tewksbury and not Reading a few years back despite them being much further from me (they were amazing). But on this occasion they’ve been great from start to finish. Not as proactive as Tewksbury, but pretty good.

Interesting that our cars are sharing the same journey, will keep track of your updates as they will most likely apply to mine too!

That's rather frustrating. Porsche Preston are also supplying my Taycan. I was told to expect delivery most definitely before year end when I placed my order, but a screen grab of the order screen on their systems from last week showed the vehicle being delivered in Jan 21. It hasn't moved in the past 7 days having requested a further update today but, crucially, is scheduled to enter Grimsby from Endon on Dec 25, i.e. before year end. The frustration is compounded however on account that in the last hour, I received a reply from Porsche Preston to my enquiry about lockdown dealership operating circumstances and was told they were waiting to be advised by Porsche GB and would come back to me in due course. Seems you clearly have a more forthcoming sales exec managing your purchase than I do.
Sorry to hear that. This is the first time I've contacted them because my vehicle is through work who deal with a broker. The order was made back in March. I do hope you get it before year end as previous posts suggest a click and collect service. Preston said the showroom will be closed but the workshop is staying open and the handover would be an option of me going there to pick it up or they will deliver to me

i have had the same issue. They are much closer to me (by an hour or so) but I’d rather drive to Swindon because their service is significantly better

Thanks for the detailed heads-up about Porsche Preston and lockdown operating conditions / collection options. Having been promised an update from the salesperson managing my purchase, I'm still waiting to hear from them. Seems the forum is a much better information source. You'd have thought buying the vehicle from the dealer direct, without a broker, and in full without finance, which gives them a huge cashflow benefit in these times, would have seen me receive better customer service. Particularly as the Bowker family, who run Porsche Preston as their first Porsche dealership, pride themselves on excellent customer service across all their dealerships. I won't mention the salesperson's name, but if they are reading this, I really do think you could do much better. Having purchased 2 new Porsche's previously through Stratstone dealerships, including my old beloved 911, I used to delight at how buying a Porsche felt like you were buying into the brand and becoming a member of a club, one of the Porsche family etc. This time around, I can honestly say I've felt more valued buying vehicles a fraction of the price! It shouldn't be too much to ask for regular updates, delivering upon pledges to provide updates and to be made to feel like one's custom is valued.

Just got this from my local Porsche Centre

If you were due to collect your new car during the lockdown period, we can confirm that this will still go ahead. Your Sales Executive will be in touch with you soon to confirm the details with you.

Please rest assured that all vehicle collections will be handled in a Covid safe manner.”

Talked right now with my (excellent) dealership for other reasons. But brought up, by that occasion, this forums topic.
Taycan 4S ordered a while ago, and then has been designate for begin of 02/2021.
According to the sales consultant: "Can be expected to be delivered in time or even two weeks earlier. Currently no CV19 impacts".
The dealership is usually best-informed and is located very close to Stuttgart, so I consider that information very sound.
In this region (or better: all over Germany) there is a so-called "lockdown light" (yes, as you read it, that's the wording used in German).
This basically involves bars/restaurants/concerts, no unnecessary travelling, etc. but it's main goals are to keep schools open and industry up and running.
So, until there is no serious CV19 outbreak in Zuffenhausen, we can stay confident.

Intrigued why it’s taking so long for your delivery since you’re so close to the factory?
Are you getting anything unique added that is slowing down the process?
