In the event of a power outage, are you able to use the charge on your Taycan's battery to supply power to household items such as refrigerators, internet routers, etc. etc.? If so, how does it work?

However I was able to 12V trickle charge a Ecoflow storage battery using the 'cigarette light' 12V in the Taycan's trunk. I just did this for a few minutes as it would take a real emergency for me to need to do that so it wasn't much of a test.

it's also more cost effective long term to buy dedicated battery backups to run critical appliances.

V2G (Vehicle to Grid) charging is not available on the Taycan at the moment. J1 definitely does not have the hardware needed to support this.
There is a small chance that the hardware exists in the latest 2025 manufactured Macan EVs - but someone needs to dig out the electronics diagrams to be sure.

V2G is likely to become a EU/GB industry standard in 2026/2027 and all EV cars then sold in EU/UK will have to support this feature.

Do not know about US standards for now. Ford F150 already supports V2G and one can discharge the car battery to power up your home via a compatible EVSE…

I was planning to try this route out as well. I have an Anker Solix battery backup system and looking to charge with the 12V in case of power outage. Do we know how long the Taycan will output via the 12V?

In theory Taycan will continue to top up the 12v accumulator using the High Voltage battery until there's nothing left in the HV batt.

But this is in theory, because in reality I'm quite sure sooner or later the Gateway is gonna realize there is massive and constant current draw from a certain cigarette lighter and it would automatically disable power to it.

Yes, I seem to remember that it does time out and you also have to watch out for amperage draw which is limited to something like 10A, I believe. Like I said, I'd only use it if "this is not a test." Now that I also have an Ioniq6, which supports V2L (vehicle-to-load) up to 15A through an inexpensive adapter, I won't be trying the Taycan experiment again.

these threads should get you started - TLDR; there is more to it than just having the vehicle setup to provide power - your home also has to be "ready" for such a system…and 99.9% of North American homes are _NOT_ setup to allow 'self power'.

post #4 discusses using most any vehicle and it's 12V system to power AC load…

I wonder how SigEnergy tested their 25kw DC charger for V2G with a Porsche. They won’t have the ability to install custom firmware, but claim a test was conducted in Dec 2024 in Belgium. Can the car already do it if you find the right charger?

https://www.sigenergy.com/en/products/dc-charger

I’m about to put their solar system on our house, not the fast DC car charger though because we simply have no need to fast charge at home - been managing with a PMCC on a 13 amp socket since we got the car in November as our mileage is so low!
