That's one of the most if not the most perfectly balanced batteries I've ever seen..

And yet you worry about the reliability of it ? as healthy as if it'd just came out of Zuffenhausen

This one doesn't lag behind either. Perfectly balanced within 0.01V


Just think about it guys

33 modules x 12 cells = 396 cells

396 fucking batteries balanced within 0.001V. If that isn't healthy I don't know what is

Not the most evenly balance bunch of modules. Not too bad? Range has been consistently around 260 at 100% so nothing seems to be heading south yet. I'll do a rebalance when I can get the battery low enough and see if there is an improvement.

@ct14garage if you have the time to comment. CarScanner shows a min/max cell differential of 8 mv @ 65% SoC. That would seem to imply a better balanced battery than what your software shows. Is my/your module level measurement a result of how some of the better and worse cells happen to be grouped in certain modules?

I'm sorry to say but it is possible that there's a slight reason for concern. This 2023 battery is too new to already be so "relatively unbalanced". Of course everything is green and fine but it does stand out I must say.

You are affected by ARB6 and WRS1.... killer combo.

Your isolation is 10 on the positive and 1.8 on the negative... On the positive side it's excellent and the maximum really. On the negative side although not bad at all many healthier batteries are on 2.5-3.7....


Based on this I think a battery failure is likely but not in the short term. 12 to 18 months things may change.

I can't say I am thrilled by your interpretation of the data, but I appreciate you lending your expertise to the forum. You have pretty much confirmed that battery failure is a "when" not an "if".

You will get 9J1.2 battery when it does fail.... So that at least will be very good.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO GET YELLOW MODULES PLEASE TRY THIS PROCEDURE BELOW WHICH WILL FORCE YOUR BMS TO BALANCE THE BATTERY.

AFTER FINISHING THE PROCEDURE READ THE BMS AGAIN WITH MY TOOL AND KEEP READING IT FREQUENTLY UNTIL THE MODULES TURN YELLOW AGAIN (IF IT EVER HAPPENS).

NOTE HOW LONG IT TOOK FOR MODULES TO BECOME YELLOW AGAIN AFTER RE-BALANCE.
CRITERIA AS FOLLOWS:

-YELLOW AFTER 1 OR 2 CHARGE/DISCHARGE CYCLE = FAILED (FAILING) MODULE

-YELLOW AFTER 10 OR MORE CHARGE/DISCHARGE CYCLE = MODULE MORE WORN THAN OTHER BUT NOT NECESSARILY FAILED (YET AT LEAST)

The battery looks OK…

You can try what I wrote in reply #86 on this post right above your comment.

Do the rebalance procedure as shown in our document. You will probably get some little extra range. Definitely can’t hurt.

Also after doing the rebalance periodically checking the battery (with the software ofc) and noting the voltage delta over time gives the best picture on the health of the battery.

The next version of tCAN-Pro will automate plotting Voltage Delta over time and this trend will be the best indicator of battery health specially if doing rebalancing in between.
