Max speed in Range mode is 150 km/h if you set a destination in the nav.
I don't know if this is a bug but mine does that from the beginning, although I've got the latest updates.
Intelligent Range Manager does that if you have enough SoC.

What puzzled me is that the one time I took it on a road trip, and input a destination in Apple Maps (connected to the PCM) and selected range mode; it limited me to 90kmh (I have it set to 140) and removed a charging stop.
I have not been able to reproduce this but it seems like Apple Maps and the PIRM can talk to each other…
Which i found very annoying?.
I select range mode just to cruise 140kmh on the freeways. Coincidentally 140kmh is also the maximum fine I wish to receive, which makes the limiter handy.
That it just uses the RWD and lowers the car is a nice plus.

But what is the purpose of range manager if we are able to get to a maximum of 140/150? What is the purpose? Efficiency? Speed? (Less charging thus quicker), marketing or?

The range mode activates certain functions;
- it only uses the rwd motor, so should be more efficient
- it only uses the 2nd gear (also more efficient)
- it lowers the car to the lowest setting to reduce drag.

If you have PIRM (intelligent range manager) it will fine tune your maximum speed to avoid charging stops. So it could limit you to 100kmh to avoid a stop, even if you have a max speed of 140 set.

Correct. Along with this, it enables A/C ECO PLUS mode but defaults to A/C ECO mode. Eco plus mode will power off the air condenser and keep the fan on and turn the condenser on as needed.
Recuperation is set to Auto which enables coasting and auto-braking based on your distance settings (InnoDrive is still better for semi FSD).
The rear spoiler will go up just enough, not as high as stage 1 in Sport Plus mode. And I believe the front vents open up if they are not open already.
The cooling fan will not turn on. Not sure about the A/C fan.

With that said, with the latest update, I barely use range mode. The difference is about 2-3 miles from Normal mode now in my car. Plus, Range mode defaulting to the lowest suspension setting helped eat up the inside of my front tires super quick.

Thanks! But my main question remains. Is it to
Yes, that’s correct Range Mode in the Taycan is limited to around 60 mph (97 km/h) to maximize efficiency. This speed cap is not adjustable by the user. It’s designed for optimal energy savings, especially in city or light highway driving. For higher speeds, you’ll need to switch to Normal or Individual mode.
False! It is adjustable. On PCM where you can customize Individual mode you can also customize Range mode here.

to make it more complex, PIRM can overwrite the users settings up to 150km/h
