CELL reception w/ INSULATED glass - southeast US??

I am building a 4S and would like head up display but you have to get insulated glass. (Build code: PT85GQJ3). I’m hearing concerning things about cell phone reception being impacted. I have Verizon, live in Atlanta, and travel through Southeast US. Thank you for sharing.

I Live in South Florida and have had 0 issue with cell reception with insulated glass the 4 months I have owned it.

You must keep your phone in the center consul for the best reception. the cell booster is located there.

If there is an issue (haven't noticed a problem myself) it could affect higher frequencies. The US carriers are mostly using 700MHz outside cities (low frequency) which might explain why US folks don't report issues. Higher frequencies are used for 5G in dense areas but if your phone falls back to 4G/700MHz you'd probably not even notice.

Taycan owner with insulated glass option for over 18 months and no issues - ZERO - with AT&T cell signal inside the car.

There is no cell "booster." There's a charger in the center console (obviously), and it's garbage. Maybe @WadeP is being sarcastic and saying "put your cell phone away while driving." If so, well played sir.

The benefits of the insulated glass outweigh the drawbacks. I’m in Denver, our cell service is terrible in general. I don’t notice any difference between my vehicles. All my windows also have ceramic tint.

I love the "experts" here...makes me reflect back on the "are Porsche owners arrogant" post, Anyway, Some models do have a booster, my CT Turbo S does. If you look at your build sheet under the build status/ Electrical it will list "Signal booster 1 serial number...that is your cell booster number it needs to be registered with your cell provider to work properly. My signal in most cases doubles when I have the phone in the charger/ booster location

Thank you all for your insights on this! You have provided me info I have not been able to get at my dealer. Sounds like on the whole the cell phone issue is not catastrophic enough to warrant dumping the glass and therefore, heads up. I’ll be sure to check my build sheet for the booster. So curious!

I had a 2021 4S with a booster, but no insolated glass in it, on my GTS with the thermal glass there is defiantly an impact on signal with both Tmobile, AT&T and Verizon, especially when the car is parked

On the Audi RS etron GT there is less impact and there the insolated glass is standard or part of the carbon package i'm not sure...

Yes I can attest that the cell reception is poor as Safelite replaced I my the isolated with the non one.
For me heat reduction is much more important that cell reception. I complained to Safelite and they changed it at not cost to the Porsche OEM heat rejection one.
So much happy with the noise isolation and heat rejection.

Interesting. I'm in South Florida w/Verizon and definitely have cell issues. It's most apparent when I try to use Maps or Waze directly on the phone. At times, I have to hold the phone to the hatched areas in the windshield to get the signal through.
