If your service report shows the exact names and/or part numbers for the hardware that was replaced, would you share them?

Thanks for this info. My drop off is Friday, I’ll pass it along to my service advisor

Thank you. Was this part the only part the dealer replaced to fix your car's connection problem?

In my case they replaced the OTA module; no change. Now they are awaiting a second box from Germany and will replace that too.

So mine is being reassembled by the dealer with the fault not fixed (for a second time) and we will be doing a 3000-mile road trip with no online connectivity and no ability to save settings (and parking in 35 degree heat without the ability to precondition remotely, which is particularly annoying).

Apparently the next idea is to replace the "connect control unit" but that is backordered from Germany with no delivery date. So when we are back the car goes in for a third trip to the OPC.

So much for my thought that upgrading to J1.2 would bring a more reliable platform.

I wonder why these units are failing? Surely a comms unit should be robust, unlike say heaters or the infamous 22kW chargers.

Sorry to read that your car's connect problem is not resolved.

My take-away from reading posts is that MY2025 VINs having connect problems often seem to require hardware replacements.

Differs in my mind from posts about MY20-24 cars with connect problems that seem to be resolved primarily by waiting, 12v power disconnections, or dealers resetting software.

Yes it’s the only part number written, even if they use various name for it in the notes (OTA FC, External communication unit, Connect CU, Connect Control Unit)

It was also back ordered, coming from Germany etc. So @anonymouse I would guess it’s the same part they replaced for me you’re now waiting on. Took roughly 6 weeks for me.

UK specific.
It's one thing having Taycans that are unreliable and need to go into service often, but not then having any loan cars available is absolutely pathetic on behalf of Porsche imo.

I decided to sell my Taycan last time it happened to me.
I was told there were no loaners available for about 3 months.....yet there were used Taycans all over the place, including parked on nearby roads.

I sold it shortly afterwards. I (mostly) liked the car, but really couldn't accept the useless UK dealer experience any longer, with the amount of times it was in there.

You would think after 5+ years of Taycan issues, they would have done something different. But it seems to be as bad as ever. No loaners available.

Hope you enjoy your road trip regardless OP.

I asked the OPC whether they could replace the eSIM to see if that was the issue. They said that the eSIM "is built into the Connect Control Unit" which is unlikely to be technically the case (an eSIM is just a piece of downloaded data) but that's the procedure. Still no idea whether the hardware itself has failed and if so how - mine will go in to the OPC again in September when the part arrives.

The OPC says they have now had several J1.2 Taycans with this fault. Unlike the J.1's connectivity problems which usually go away after a reboot or reset, the J1.2 problems seem to need hardware.

Further reason why we should never own these cars without warranty. I guess the replacement hardware is thousands (including labour, disassembling the dash; collect/delivery from 100 miles away).

If anyone does get a matching fault fixed please keep us posted.

Meanwhile the main things you lose without connectivity seem to be:
- logging in (although it seems to have allowed me to create a local account)
- traffic information
- Google search for destinations
- charger information eg how many stalls free at next charger
- all remote access capability including precooling on demand, alarm notifications, map to car

Plug-and-charge appear to be offered but I've not tried yet.
CarPlay would not do an initial wifi connection but once I plugged the phone in it seems ok.

I wish that it would at least connect with WiFi while it’s in my garage. Even though it connects to the network, there is still no data transfer. So it isn’t cellular only.

Anyway, dropped mine off today, but not expecting any answers until after the weekend

My J1.2 is back in my garage today, with its connectivity issues fixed. It was the end of the day when I picked it up and I wasn't able to talk to the service advisor, so I still have frustratingly few details about what actually fixed it, but the answer seems to be:

"performed resets per support, coded whole car let sleep able to restore service".

Huh. So basically every module in the car had to be reintroduced to every other module, then they all took a nap and when they woke up again all was well.

I didn't even lose any of my settings.

Time in the shop: 16 days.

I've attached the receipt in case this proves helpful to anyone else, but I still don't have the actual list of tasks that Porsche sent to the dealer. There were apparently 2 such lists, the first didn't fix the problem so they got a second one. I'm still trying to get my hands on those lists. If I can do so I'll post them here too.

There are 2 parts listed on this receipt, the conbox and another ctrl unit. I don't believe these were replaced; it's a little strange that they're listed here, but I think "Unrealized" means they were not needed. I don't think they were ordered either.

I might have missed it but did you/dealer ever try to disconnect the 12v?

I believe so - I expect that was necessary when they were dismantling the dash and replacing the first bit of hardware. They also “reintroduced” all the components “as though they had been replaced” which sounds like what @Voltaire ’s dealer did, but in my case it had no effect. They said that cutting 12V can fix J1’s connectivity but not J1.2.

It sounds like Porsche never addressed the underlying issue and it is just fortuitous that disconnecting the 12v works on J1.1.

Thank you for posting receipt. I looked up the two part numbers - full names and photos below.

Interesting that dealer said power disconnection which worked for 20-24 Taycans does not work for 2025 Taycans. Also, the fix for your 2025 did not require hardware replacement.

"Vehicle handover procedure" in the service notes is likely something like this TSB: 2022 Taycan – Ensuring Porsche Connect Functionality During Vehicle Handover
