Sooooo, my car (GTS) is currently on the last leg of its 13 month journey from order to delivery. I believe it's on the Hoegh Trapper which is currently crossing the Indian Ocean to Fremantle, Western Australia.

It's scheduled to arrive in port on 1st October but just got the dreaded dealer email notifying of handover delay. Apparently this is due to a 'valve' that needs to be replaced. These mysterious valves are apparently hard to get your hands on so it could take till the end of October to receive my new wheels.

Anyone guess what this 'valve' might be?

(NOTE: I searched the forum first for 'replacement valve' and only read mention of an 'expansion valve' but that sounded like it was an isolated issue.

No idea.

At one point many months ago there was a hold on TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) valves which is a legal requirement in various regions to have on new vehicles. Taycans were being shipped but either held at the port of entry or at the dealership until the valves could be fitted.

If not these - then take your pick - HVAC, air suspension etc

Not that you are going to want a smart ass comment but here goes……it’s definitely not an inlet or exhaust valve in the cylinder head……?

On the serious side, apart from the above mentioned, wonder how the SA got notified of a fault whilst in transit, unless there is another potential part that is suspected of failing? All very unusual ?

I think I have the answer for you! Testing the battery pack for ABP2 requires a technician to attach a plate in place of a vent (no doubt with a one way valve). It's the black component on the back of the gray assembly. I was told there was a non-reusable part so I started looking at battery packs on eBay to see if I could figure out what it might be. My dealer is saying 2 weeks until the part might be in.

That component should be relatively easy to get to as it appears to be immediately under the trunk. The adapter on the other end will require removal of the center console to get to.

Bravo (and thanks for such a clear explanation)! Sounds like you are indeed correct as the dealership just volunteered some more info, saying the replacement valve is related to pressure testing the battery as part of a standard quality check before handover. No surprise then that these valves are now in short supply...oh well, what's another 3 weeks hey!?
