The Taycan Forum has been a a great oracle over the last few months and has helped shape many decisions (4S to Turbo) and which colour and options to choose. Big Thanks to all who have posted pictures, given opinions and guidance from their own experiences and aspirations.

I'm picking up my Taycan Turbo from Porsche East London on Saturday, and wondered if anyone has any hints & tips as preparation (to the big day)

If this has been covered by another thread, please let me know

I would ensure the Porsche Connect fully works and that the tracker tags are enabled. Without this I would not drive the car out the showroom as I think it’s fundamental to using the car

@Sonic very kindly messaged me with the following which I hope he wont mind me sharing:
The dealership hand-over for me was basically non-existant, quite literally "here's your keys - due to COVID and lockdown we can't have you inside the showroom, and we can't get in the car to show you anything"...

Not ideal, but them i'm fairly tech savy so happy to pick things up. It took me a good few hours to go through all the menu's in the car and set things up how i liked - it's more spaceship than car!

This forum has been absolutely key reading upfront in order to understand how many things work, so i'd recommend just getting it back home and enjoying taking the time to understand and work things out with the assistance of the forum, and the Good to Know app.

The key thing to get setup before you leave with the car is the Connect app, and the car linked to your account. I actually did all that myself anyway, but you need to ensure it works as the Connect app is key to setting up and charging the car.

It's probably worth them showing you have to charge it as well, if you've not had an EV before. I hadn't, and it took me a few minutes of headscratching to work it out, and also how the timers and profiles for it work in the Connect app. By default the car will just "direct charge" i.e immediately start charging to 100% when you plug it in - but at the best least you will want to set up some rules to stop at 85%.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Same experience I had with hand over. " here is the key, your car is in the compound, go and find it"
Being not very IT savey, it took my Son and myself ages to sort things out. I phoned the dealer up for help, his advise was to google it, and thats how I found this site. That was the only good bit of advice I got.
Loving the car, even though it has got numerous glitches that need sorting.

Wow - that's sad to hear. My OPC in Reading did a really nice handover, including reveal, picture of the handover; overview of basic functions; how to charge; what to expect post-delivery including a virtual class, calls (which I have received twice now); introduction to the service manager/team; the OPC Sales Leader for Reading etc.

The only thing missing was lunch :)...

It's disappointing to hear about the aforementioned experiences. My vehicle was delivered to my home, nearly 70 miles from the dealership. It came pre-programmed along with my profile and account information. Before the keys were handed over, I was given a brief virtual orientation on various operating features of the car by the salesperson.

I was due to have a 'covid collection' too, but was delayed, so I managed to have the normal experience yesterday. I get on well with the dealer and it was enjoyable.

When I was expecting the 'covid collection', I asked my dealer whether he could send me an unveiling video as I wouldn't get to experience it properly and he sent this video over. I know you can do something similar to this in-person whilst you're there and have yourself taking the sheet off, but I liked the fact it was simple and quiet. Maybe worth asking your dealer to create a video for yourself?

Other than that, I'd say to take a friend or family member with you (if you aren't already) to help take pics/videos/etc. Enjoy!

I 2nd this. Last couple of times I get a data card cannot be found message pop up. But I knows its working because Vodafone have called about 4 times during one weekend. Moght have to pick this up with Porsche Preston who initially delayed my delivery because they were having issues sorting the tracker. Unfortunately I cant offer more advice as mine was delivered to me on the back if a trailer and during lockdown.

I hope it all goes well with you, just take it easy for the first couple of days, get to know the car and then do some launch controls. Enjoy my friend

Good shout. It will be very difficult to leave without the car, but I hear what your saying and the importance of getting it sorted - fingers crossed!

Good shout, to review the charging situation, my wife has a Hybrid and thought it would be the same, but looks like its a little different

I love your quote - "its more spaceship than car!"

cheers!

Sorry to hear that mate, useful to know that some handovers may short fall of what's expected and to shout if I'm not happy

cheers

Good idea to get introduced to the service manager and other team members

Shocked to hear there was no lunch!

Yep completely agree, better to have a proper unveiling and handover and worth the wait.

Great video, which only makes me more excited. Will post mine once done in a few days time and make sure the phones fully charged
