But can't you achieve this thru your charger? Program the car to charge any time and program the off-peak window into the charger.

I have a dumb charger (grizzl-E). I wanted something reliable that would just work when plugged in with less point of failure.

If you do not care about the SOC and just want the car to charge only during a time window, then just set a Profile to your off-peak hours and do not use a Timer. If you occasionally need to override that Profile to charge outside that window, just select "Direct Charging". Done.

There are no profiles on J1.2 Taycans.

Nope - timer for start, end, repeat etc
That info is what swtaycanstgts was asking about. Perhaps tell him where to find it. I did not ask AutoX which platform he is on, but might apply to him too.

Thank you kindly for your replies and advice.
I am away this weekend and therefore not able to try your suggestions.
I have a second EV and also a ‘dumb’ low power charger therefore plan to mix and match between the two depending on requirements. Due to this it would be much easier to have the vehicles set up to control the charging otherwise each time I would have to jump in and out of settings.
I will be sure to report back my findings.

I cannot find any where on the app or PCM in relation to profiles. I’m quite stumped but assume I must be doing something wrong. Images attached for reference.
The app is connected to the car and I’ve been using it to control various things, successfully, all week.
I had profiles in the car and app for my j1.1
For my j1.2 I only have the same options as you. Ie, no profile.

The concept and feature set of J1.1 profile shas melded into the Departure --> Extended Settings of the Charging function - here you'll find locations, optimised charging and preferred time period.

"Departure" is the hub for all charging functionality that previously was split across timers and profiles.

Add to this the slider to set the desired target charge.

Just to add a little update. I am still struggling to get my car to behave in line with any settings outlined in the charging options such as the extended settings above.
I’ve been dealing with the ‘Porsche Pro’ at my local dealership but she has run out of options and asked to have the car for a bit to investigate.
For me at the moment I cannot get the car to either start charging or stop charging at any desired time, let along both.
Instead I’m just relying on my wall box to control the charging window but with a second vehicle to charge at home and also occasional charging from my business, 170 miles away, it results in me having to be in and out of apps for both cars and chargers considerably, which is a frustration.
If the car would do the simple task being asked of it, and any modern EV, then I could make everything plug and play without messing about with any apps.
I will reply with an outcome if/when I get one sorted.

Remember that your wallbox should be in dumb mode (no programming active whatsoever) when used to charge the car as this will cause a conflict.

The car controls the charging in all cases and so the charging control should be set by the app or PCM only.

I'm sure you're aware but in case not i thought I mention it.

Thank you for taking the time to post.
I had considered it, and even considered that maybe even the wall box despite being in a plug and charge mode could be causing the fault. So my recent attempts have been made using the really dumb 240v wall socket charger that came with the car. It has no features or buttons at all but sadly still the same option.

I’ve looked at posts on here relating to how the J1.1 with profiles operates and tried various settings to try and mimic this king of operational logic but with no success. From what I’ve seen I would suggest the newer system looks to have attempted to simplify the charging process but on my vehicle appears to have little to no control over the process at all.

If you have a J1.2 the profile concept effectively disappears and now part of the overall departure and timed setup - same functionality more or less but intended to simplify.

Using the 13A 3 pin plug approach is useful to test and should have a 100% or 50% power control to reduce the amount of juice supplied to the car (sometimes needed if your fuse is tripping).

Can you share a recent screenshot of your charging / timer setup - all settings?

I would just use the wallbox logic, at least that's what I do here. And I can control the hours for that.
In the car the only thing I control is the max charge limit to 85%.

The car will give you an error message when you plug it in and the wallbox is not allowing the charge (charging error), but as soon as the timer runs out and the wallbox turns on, the error will go away and the car will start charging.

Yes, you need a degree in Batterology when you first get your Taycan. Then, you gotta to watch and rewatch Sabine's videos until you get your Master's degree. Now, it mostly.... works.
