Hi everyone,

I am starting to visit places with Tesla Destination AC Chargers and the plug to convert it to fit the charge port seems a wide choice and cost.

Can anyone recommend one in the UK you have used with no issue?

much appreciated.

Lectron is the same company that makes the Porsche NACS/CCS1 Adapter for North American Supercharger access

the NACS/CCS1 adapter is for "fast charging"
the adapter linked above is for L2 Charging @ Tesla Destination chargers…

sorry didn't notice the UK - my recommendation's don't work for UK…

I'd love to see what people find - I thought Euro didn't have difference plug types…

I’m confused, does this mean that for TDC you need another adapter than the one sold by Porsche?
Yes, Porsche's adapter is for fast DC superchargers.
AC requires a different adapter.

Yes, this is ridiculous. And as I've now been told many times, you don't want a TeslaTap in the UK as it's for NACS connectors.

in J-1772/CCS vehicles like the Taycan/Macan EV (Cayenne comes with NACS native for fast charging, but you'll still need a NACS/J-1772 adatper for NACS L2 AC chargers - since the NACS port on the Cayenne is for DCFast charging only) - in North America you need two adapters:
  • Tesla Superchargers requires a CCS1 adapter like the one Porsche includes
  • normal L2/AC Destination chargers require a separate J-1772 Adapter
Porsche provides this this one for superchargers (and future CCS chargers with NACS cables) - https://ev-lectron.com/products/lec...0a-1-000v-compatible-with-tesla-superchargers

this one for NACS Tesla L2 chargers - you have to purchase it separately - https://ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-tesla-to-j1772-ev-adapter-250v-80-amp

see this thread of the gory details - https://www.macanevowners.com/forum/threads/faq-dont-overthink-the-nacs-native-port-transition…because-it-doesnt-matter.16867/

I have the first one, official Porsche one. For the second one, can I use the one that it came with my Tesla Universal Wall Charger? It looks exactly like that.

you can when you're home - but the Tesla universal one can't be detached from the cord for travel when you're away from home…

Hi all, I think the US setup with Tesla is very different to the UK.

i can plug my Taycan into v3 and v4 supercharger natively without an adaptor using CCS but the question in the UK is around the Tesla Destination AC 11Kw AC

I had been reading the Tesla destination chargers in the UK have type 2 plugs which mean no plug necessary but I recall a few years ago in a car (not the Porsche) looking at a destination charger at a hotel and it didn’t fit for my then non Tesla hire car.
So in the UK has anyone used a taycan at a Tesla destination charger recently without any adaptors?

You are in the UK but watching too many Americans on YouTube :)

This nonesense about adaptors is entirely a North America problem.

In Europe you use a Type 2 cable, the same as you use to connect to an AC charger at home. It is a robust standard and there are very few interoperability problems.

In any case Tesla destination chargers have a tethered Type 2 cable so you don't need to bring anything, just plug it in to either of your Taycan's ports.

Tesla Destination Chargers can be configured two ways though: Originally they were supplied in pairs, with one set up only to charge Teslas and the others open to all. And over recent years the Destination Charger programme has decayed significantly as site owners began to seek recompense for charging (originally it was free, to attract people to upmarket hotels etc). So some places turn it off at a master switch until you pay reception; others have let the Tesla charger die without updating the map and are installing PodPoint or other alternatives which bring them revenue. Always best to phone them first (if you can find someone at reception who has any clue about EVs).
