I did it and I'm delighted with the result; it feels much better in the hands. But it still represents a fair amount of work.

Did you already have the jog dial on the original wheel or did you have to do anything to get it to work properly

Yes I had it on the original wheel so it works properly.

So, put my big boy pants on today and decided to fit my wheel.. now wishing I hadn’t!

It was raining, thought I would disconnect the 12v battery ( should have just put In sleep mode as per instruction!) and with the rain and the wind the door shut when I was outside and couldn’t get back in again! Only way I could think of was re connect battery ( frunk I’d been more sensible with and put physical barrier so couldn't close)

Anyway, sure enough I know have an airbag light on now I’ve refitted.

Happy with the wheel, did find it a bit fiddly and stressful swopping module and tiny plugs.

Can a good indie rest the airbag light? Really don’t want to go to dealer.

Can't answer the reset question, but I wanted to point out that we all might know exactly where you live now. You might want to remove those photos.

Yeah, the car thieves might leave it when they see the airbag light on for health and safety reasons..

I’m sure 5 year old taycans (with airbag lights on!) are not top of the list of car thieves crawling the internet for prey? ( especially if they have read half the threads on this forum!)

And just for anyone doing the swop, I’m double kicking myself now as just realised I could have just used the actual key blade in the fob and just opened the door and saved myself a light and no doubt a big bill to clear it.!

I was looking at trying to swap my non jog dial wheel for one with it but it would seems it’s not straight forward to do.

Although yours already had one so maybe I will come steal it 🤣

It might be worth getting a bmw enet cable and trying @prj ’s app to bulk reset all the error codes.

In principle it’s straight forward. It’s just the wires/plugs are so difficult to get out. It’s very stressful, but maybe that’s just me! Kicking myself for reconnecting the battery when I didn’t need to!

What’s a non jog wheel? If you mean the steering wheel dial which changes normal/ sport/ sport plus guess it would just depend on wiring and coding.

Hi, can you elaborate on this? In there a link?

sure

you need a cable like this:
https://amzn.eu/d/08NgzbOy
Dirt cheap

A Windows laptop with an Ethernet port (or a USB to Ethernet adapter - again less than £10).

Then download mapEV for free from https://www.mapev.net/mapev-diag/

That has a button to read error codes and to ‘clear all codes’ which resets all errors.

There is a chance that will clear the error.

Yes sorry my bad I mean the dial that changes sports setting. I don’t currently have it on mine, but was wondering if it would just be coding or actual hard wear wiring needed as well. In that case I wouldn’t bother. Just make sure my next time has it.

What’s wrong with knowing where people live?

Simple google search and you can find almost anyone. Not sure what good or bad it will do unless you’re in some sort of witness protection. 😜

It’s all basically public info. As is your license plate and VIN. Anyone who walks past your car in public can see both. Never understood why people hide them on a car forum.

For the OP- the mapEV thing is super easy and clears codes. Hopefully it fixes that light for you.

Sounds worth a shot. I’ve got this cable from an e92 m3 kit I had years ago. Would it be the same?

Is USB or Ethernet preferred?
