I thought it might be a nice touch to replace these with some anodised allen bolts - dark blue was my idea.

However on attempting to remove one it just seems to turn rather than extract - maybe not a real fixing after all??

It’s possible the bolts are decorative or secured with a hidden nut on the other side. You might need to access the back of the switch assembly to remove them properly.

Haha-then the airbag goes off! (maybe)

I am replacing my Leather Steering wheel with Race-tex and the highly experienced tech let me know these bolts are decorative so they do not turn and none of the parts they appear to hold can be removed or replaced.

A friend changed that trim on his 992 (which i believe shares the same cover) to an aftermarket carbon fiber and I believe those screws were real (on the aftermarket) because he could change the lower plate from a few options provided

Surely those screws are real as the trims come in different specs. I have a spare wheel that I’ve just swopped out for an Alcantara one so will check out what I can see with airbag removed/ off the car and report back..

Although, stranger things have happened and sergeyindy could be right, but madness if so!

The trim pieces clip on - getting them off is tricky and you'll almost always break some of the clips. When I tried on my wheel the hex screw heads just spin round - they're definitely not holding anything.

Thanks for the useful info, will have to forget that idea then...

Couldn't see any parts on Suncoast though.

Thank you all
